The trend is clear: Every year the number of dental implant treatment is increasing in industrialized countries by 15 to 20 percent, more and more patients find out about this method and call for an appropriate treatment for functional and aesthetic reasons. The increasing awareness of the population carries this trend and strengthens it.

This development arises important potentialities for the registered dentist´s own practice- provided he deals with this field. With the curriculum implantology the International Dental Education offers an extremely high quality and inexpensive program for you.

Implantology for the practitioner - this is the motto of the 12-day-long intensive seminar and turns to the young colleagues who want to learn implantology as a beginner step-by-step, but also to the already working with implantations dentist who will use the latest research results for the optimization of its treatment.

Immediate implant placement and immediate loading, sinus augmentation or the latest 3-D computer navigation with stencil techniques and robotics are all issues that are of particular interest. Practical exercises (hands-on) are to also be live operations performed. Group work and lessons are part of all six units. An extensive final discussion and the ceremonial presentation of certificates to the participants will be held at the end of this comprehensive course. We offer you a 12-day-long intensive seminar program in Germany including practical

hands-on exercises and hospitation in different dental partner surgeries.

Following we show you the content of all parts of this 12-day long course:

1. Element: Basics of dental implantology (day 1 and day 2)

Speaker: Prof. Dr. Dirk Schulze

As an introduction, the basics of oral implantology are treated in a systematic overview. The aim is to give the course participants the opportunity to already run implantology activities in their own practice.

The participants will learn the historical development of dental implantology including the different types of dental implants and its area of inserting in different anatomic regions.

The procedure of implantologic treatment will be discussed in regard to different systems, patient anamnesis, systematical diagnosis and planning with 2-dimensional X-Ray techniques. Additionally we talk about full-navigated 3-dimensional implantation with digital volume tomography

llustration 2: At the beginning participants of this course are introduced in basics of 3-D-full-navigated implantology

2. Element: Surgical techniques in inserting dental implants (day 3)

Speaker: Prof. Dr. Kai Hendrik Bormann

practice of different surgical techniques in dental implantology. First the participants will learn the theoretical basics and after that these basics can be trained in practical exercise in animal preparation

local anaesthetic management, correct incision direction, periostomy, bone preparation in different types of bone quality

bone augmentation, membrane positioning, exact positioning of dental implants in different anatomic regions, suturing techniques, treatment of complications during the surgical period

medical aftercare

3. Element: Different types of maxillary and mandibulary bone augmentation (day 4)

Speaker: Dr. Suk-young Kim

First the trainees learn the preparation of endangered anatomic structures like nerve exits. After that we will discuss the practical procedure in intern and extern sinus augmentation. Regarding to the procedures we look to the indications of extern and intern sinus augmentation.

4. Element: Periodontal basics and its implementation in peri-implantological soft

tissue management (day 5 and day 6)

Speaker: Dr. Kilian Hansen

we show you the correlation of periodontal treatment and the treatment of peri-implant soft tissue management

methods of surgical pocket reduction (excisional new attachment procedure, modified Widman flap, apical advancement flap, gingivectomy and access flap)

indication, implementation and evaluation of different surgical techniques, instruments, sutures and suture techniques and postoperative care

plastic-surgical procedures in daily practice: frenectomy, Free mucosal graft, connective tissue, cover of mucogingival recessions

all participants exercise these techniques practically in animal preparation

in surgically-regenerating process in peri-finding component will be discussed

5. Element: Prosthetic restoration on dental implants (day 7, 8 and 9)

Speaker: Priv.-Doz. Dr. Sönke Harder

we present you an implant prosthetic concept based on occlusally screw retained constructions and physiological formed denture to prevent any peri-implantitis an soft-tissue inflammation

in particular, for the Pink-white aesthetics also the crown design in submucosal area plays an important role in addition to known surgical procedures.

The different types of removable dentures on implants: bar-retained prosthesis, locator-fixed prosthesis and telescopic prosthesis on implants and its range of indication

As a particular feature of this part of the course we present you the Munich Implant Concept: a combination of intraoral scanning device and digital fabrication with CAD/CAM technology
