Welcome!Officer Jim Hanrahan
A school-resource officer on campus, or on an adjacent campus, serves a multitude of purposes. The mere presence of one dissuades many behavior problems with students. An armed officer also is one more layer of security and safety for students and staff. Chandler police Officer James Hanrahan is based here at Aprende, and conducts law-related education classes under a grant that requires that he teach 160 hours on bullying and Internet predators, among other things. He will conduct lock-down drills at the schools so that students, teachers and staff know what to do in case of an emergency. The emphasis at the middle school of 1,100 students is drug and gang prevention. He will also helps monitor students for truancy and domestic-violence problems that could spill over into school.
