2017-18 Selected as Fellow of the New Leadership Academy, a program of the National Forum on Higher Education for the Public Good (National Forum), University of Michigan National Center for Institutional Diversity. In partnership with the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE), the NLA seeks to train present and future academic leaders to lead effectively on their campuses and across the system of higher education.

2015-2016 Invited Member, Institute of Medicine Global Forum on Innovation in Health Professional Education Committee. This Committee was charged with conducting a fast-track study entitled Educating Health Professionals to Address the Social Determinants of Health” to examine practices and make recommendations for the education of health professionals in the U.S. and worldwide to better address the social determinants of health.

2013 Invited Member, Institute of Medicine-National Research Council Workshop Planning Committee on “Standards for Benefit-Cost Analysis of Preventive Interventions for Children, Youth, and Families.” The committee developed the agenda for the workshop, selected and invited speakers, and moderated discussions to arrive at some degree of consensus on best practices to conduct Benefit Cost Analyses.

2013-present Advisor, School of Social Work, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Since 2013, I have been working with the School of Social Work and the College of Social Sciences leadership (the School is located with that College) to help the School strengthen its research and academic programs.

(Delva – Co-I) 2/1/17 – 1/31/19R03 DA041891 (Córdova, PI) $310,583Preventing HIV/STI in Urban Adolescents via an mHealth Primary Care InterventionThe purpose of this project is to conduct a Stage I RCT to examine the preliminary efficacy of a brief mHealth version of Storytelling for Empowerment (S4E) vs. a community practice control condition to improve HIV/STI testing and reduce HIV/STI risk behaviors in a clinic sample of at-risk adolescents ages 14-21 living in Southeast Michigan. We also seek to develop a cross-platform and universal version of S4E to be compatible with both IOS and Android operating systems and multiple mobile devices.

Teaching University of Michigan:

SW 731 Capstone Integrative Seminar. This course provides opportunities for social work students in advanced field placements to engage in integrative learning, peer consultation and professional e-portfolio development activities. This seminar is intended for students in the final term of their program and allows them to process their learning experiences, both classroom and field, in a safe milieu.

SW 799 Addictions: A Global Perspective. This mini-course focuses on the experiences many individuals and families worldwide have with a wide range of compulsive behaviors that are maintained despite negative consequences. Some of these behaviors are alcohol consumption, tobacco and other drug use, sex, gambling, exercise, work, internet use, tanning, and even texting, among others. The courses discusses policy and treatment interventions that are culturally relevant.

RCRS Responsible Conduct of Research and Scholarship. This is a 4-hr course that
