The fellowships are for early- and mid-career researchers who will be future research leaders. Title: Novel Cardiac Imaging To Improve Outcomes In Patients With Coronary Heart Disease. Aims: Early detection of coronary artery disease and better evaluation of lesion-specific ischaemia, leading to earlier and more effective intervention/treatment; Non-invasive assessment significantly reduces downstream costs with far less layered or series of tests (combination or multi-modality “one-stop-shop” reduces the need for subsequent testing); Reduce cost and demand on hospital services by using Cardiac MRI to identify those patients who will benefit from intervention/surgery thereby avoiding unnecessary and costly therapies; Improve the rapid assessment of cardiac patients, including Indigenous cardiac patients, allowing streamlined treatment pathways in order to achieve best medical/clinical, family/psychological and community financial load outcome, and effectively aim to reduce our cardiac death rate; Maintain Queensland and Prince Charles Hospital’s current role as a national & international leader in cardiac care and as a cardiac research centre, with a significant national teaching role
