Brief description. The study aimed at determining the epidemiology and control of helminths
(GIN) and protozoa in cattle in Kirinyaga county and more specifically it aimed at determining the
social economic, farming characteristics, production systems and management practices of
smallholder farmers in Kirinyaga county that could be associated with helminths and protozoa of
cattle. It also documented anthelmintic control practices used by farmers, and determined the
prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites in cattle. Assessment of the in-vitro anthelmintic activity
of herbal remedies used by farmers to treat their cattle against helminths and protozoa in the
county were also determined
