This research gave rise to the article Premesse per uno studio sui delitti di schiavitù e tratta di persone nel quadro della tutela del diritto alla libertà (published in Rivista Penale, n. 10/2012) as well as to the book Nuove schiavitù e diritto penale, published in the series of the Department of Law, Università degli Studi di Bergamo (2014). 2007/2010 Participation in research programs at a national, European and international level, within the UNESCO Chair in Human rights and the ethics of the international cooperation, in Università degli Studi di Bergamo, with the collaboration of Cotonou – Dakar – Friburgo. The activity concerned: the transnational organized crime; trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants; the exploitation of migrant workers, criminal offences based on expulsions. 2003/2016 Participation in researches at a European and international level directed by The Holy Seat Mission at the United Nation and the International Organizations in Geneva. The activity was focused on the issues concerning human rights and their violation, and especially: the extension and uniformity of

the criminal protection of human rights; the victimization of minors; trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants; exploitation of migrant workers. 1st September 2006/ 31st July 2007 Commissioned by the autonomous region of Aosta Valley – Department of Structural Polics and Europe Affaires, the research concerned Mitration Laws. The activicy, which focused especially on the prevention and prosecution of illegal migration, smuggling of migrants, the humanitarian exoneration, measures for the participation to public life and social integration, gave rise to a prodromal study and to the Regional Law Project Norme per l'accoglienza e l'integrazione sociale delle cittadine e dei cittadini stranieri immigrati in Valle d’Aosta. 2000/2008 In the municipality of Piacenza, Social services sector, the research concerned migration laws, with a specific emphasis on administrative and criminal law, and it was held within different regional projects. 1996/2008 Research activities at Fondazione Migrantes, directed by the Bishop Conference of Italy. The activity concerned the criminal aspects of migration laws as well as the protection of human rights.
