August 1978 - May 1986 Director, Site Development, Boys Town National Family Home Program, Boys Town, Nebraska. The Site Development Division maintained responsibility for program replication and dissemination and quality control activities. These activities included the development of Boys Town Affiliated Sites interested in utilizing evidence-based approaches to service delivery based on the Teaching-Family Model. These Sites in turn developed, supported and maintained networks of group homes and other services for youth with emotional and behavioral challenges and/or involvement in the delinquency system. The Sites were developed in cooperation with and funded by various state and private agencies. The process of developing these Sites was the responsibility of Site Coordinators and Assistant Site Coordinators in the Site Development division. The Division worked with over 60 organizations with thirteen sites in nine states developed as replication centers. Division activities included the development, organization, implementation and evaluation of infrastructures to support high quality programs and involved the training, coaching and evaluation of staff trainers, supervisors/coaches, evaluators and program managers who staffed the Sites. Primary responsibilities of the Director of Site Development included overall direction, supervision of services provided to sites as well as responsibility for assessment, contracting and program budgeting. August 1975 - August 1978 Research Fellow and Co-Director of the Teaching-Family Program at the Boys Town Center for the Study of Youth Development, Boys Town, Nebraska. Primary responsibilities included supervision of research conducted by associate researchers, development of training programs to train trainers and program directors to operate Teaching-Family Regional Sites, performance of research projects to evaluate staff training programs and treatment methods, and the dissemination of program materials and information to consumer groups. August 1973 - July 1975 Director of Training, "Bringing It all Back Home", Group Home Project, Western Carolina Center, Morganton, North Carolina. The project maintained administrative and programmatic responsibilities for eight community-based group homes serving youth involved in the delinquency and child welfare system. The group homes used the Teaching-Family Model and were staffed by married couples known as Teaching-Parents. The Director of Training had primary responsibility for all aspects of pre-service and in-service training for the project's professional staff. This included the development of all instructional materials for the training of group home staff (videotapes, lecture materials, behavioral simulations, etc.), the implementation of pre-service workshops and in-service training programs, provision of regular on-site consultation with group home staff, assistance in developing and implementing evaluation procedures to assess the effectiveness of the training program, as well as primary responsibility for recruiting and selecting group home staff for

employment. August 1973 - July 1975 Assistant Professor, Department of Special Education, Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina. Primary responsibilities centered on the development of the complete course work materials for a field-based, master's degree program for group home staff. In addition, supervision was provided for several graduate courses each quarter and students were assisted in designing and implementing master's thesis research in applied settings. Also course instruction was provided to undergraduates majoring in Special Education. This involved teaching Psychology of Disability and supervising practicum experiences of student interns. January 1973 - July 1973 Participant in the Achievement Place Research Project, Bureau of Child Research, University of Kansas. Experiences included training in the operation of a group home treatment program through a series of week-long teaching-parent workshops as well as experiences as a trainer of teaching-parents. Research projects involved applied behavior analysis work with adolescents with delinquency system involvement who were receiving services. Also involved training staff to work effectively with children who had emotional and behavioral problems, as well as the social validation of complex social skills to be taught to adolescents. September 1972 - June 1973 Teaching Assistant to Dr. B. L. Hopkins, Department of Human Development, University of Kansas. Primary responsibilities included organization of course materials and development of a peer proctor system for grading exams for an undergraduate honors course in Introduction to Child Behavior and Development. September 1970 - July 1973 Research Assistant to Dr. B.L. Hopkins, Department of Human Development, University of Kansas. Involved a variety of direct experiences in the area of curriculum development, teacher training, in-service training and coaching for teachers, and work with children with learning disabilities and emotional and behavioral problems. Assisted in the establishment and operation of two experimental classrooms for elementary school children including curriculum selection and modification, classroom organization, data collection and teacher training programs. Conducted research on creativity and reading.
