(only valid for University College of Northern Denmark)

The teaching methods used on the programOn the multimedia Design course at University College, a broad range of teaching methods is used, allof which support the above and promote the achievement of the learning targets described in thiscurriculum.

The teaching methods are based on UCN technologys common learning approach. The learningapproach is based on the PULS philosophy of The Whole Person, where the learning attainments aredescribed in three dimensions, namely:Head:Knowledge, reflection and the ability to generate ideas.Heart: Personal insight and development, relations and collaboration.

    Legs:Management ability and responsibility.

The general teaching methods are dialogue-based, with classroom teaching, solving tasks and projectwork in groups. But working in study groups, individual study, individual assignments and projects, presentations in groups and for the whole year group, interdisciplinary theme courses and a lot of othermethods are also used.

What is common to these activities is that we always try to establish (or assist in establishing) cleartargets for the learning activities.

A range of additional activities are also offered, which can help to promote individual learning: extraprogramming, a homework group and individual supervision and coaching. There is a focus in theteaching on the working processes of software development in order to support the development of

    the professions skills and competencies.

Multimedia Designer course Page 22 XX

This also means that the prototype that is developed must appeal to a given target audience whichneeds a service within the field of experience/leisure.

The framework is quite broad, but the supervisors reserve the right to reject a project description if wefeel that the assignment falls outside of the theme of the year. It is thus very important that all groups

describe carefully the company and the nature of the assignment.

Requirements for the projectIn addition to the requirements mentioned in the curriculum, there are a series of requirements in theindividual subjects that will need to be incorporated into the project.

The company:Based on a strategic analysis of the company, as well as an application of relevant models, the strategicconsiderations to be used during the completion of the chosen assignment, must be analysed andassessed.

We expect you to explain the project development model you have used and why, and you mustprepare a guideline time budget regarding the development of the prototype.

When producing the prototype, you must take the relevant legislation into account.

Communication and promotion:Define a target audience based on a theory-based analysis and argue theoretically for the product. In the report you must explain the methods used for the gathering of empirics, both in the investigativeas well as the test phases. You must also explain the prioritising of the various requirements set by the

    various stakeholders.

Design and visualisation:You must produce a series of sketches and prototypes illustrating the development from idea phase tothe finished design as well as the navigation as a user interface. The design must live up to therequirements that the target groups and users require for functionality, communication and quality (e.g.usability and experience).

It must be clear that various principles for good design have been used in the solution. This meansboth design theory, (typography, colour, design and image editing etc.) as well as theories of experiencedesign and user friendliness.

The chosen style must also be carefully considered and assessed in accordance with the genre. Finally, you must use different media in your solution. In the assessment, we will be focusing on whether the design fulfills the requirements, that the designprocess is well illustrated and argued for as well as the design being theoretically well argued.

Interaction developmentThe prototype must contain some form of interaction with the user. This means that the user must be able to select and interact with the site. The programming aspects of the task must be solved using ASP.NET and C# with CSS.There must also be a form of persistence, ie. information regarding the visit to the site from the usermust be saved on the server. It could be a guestbook, a log, an order, a request or just statistics. The

task does not necessarily need to be solved with databases, just a simple text file.
