Floorplan Management

FLOORPLAN ANALYTICS

The floorplan analytics area displays floorplans you have upload to the portal (if you haven’t yet

uploaded a floorplan please contact our support department). From here you can track the movements

of your customers in your venue in real time, on previous dates, on different floors and at certain times

of the day. You can also have data overlaid such as gender, age, dwell and login method.

Zoom

1. You are able to zoom in or out of the floorplan, by clicking the button.

a) Either clicking the + to zoom in on the floorplan. You can zoom in up to 250%.

b) Or clicking the – to zoom out of the floorplan. You can zoom out to 25%.

Settings

1. The settings area is split into two areas, Accuracy settings and Show/hide.

a) Accuracy Settings

• Rail snapping – This will snap any users in close proximity

to the rail, thus increasing accuracy levels.

• Exclusion zones - This will do the opposite to Rails, if an

area has been assigned as an exclusion zone then any user

appearing in that zone will be pushed out of the zone to the

strongest signal from an AP. No data will be captured from

these areas.

2. To turn off untick the box next to the relevant option.

Quick Development Tools

On the left of the screen you have the quick development tools, these allow you to quickly create within

the floorplan. From here you can access the following:

• Select Tool - When this tool is selected you can directly click on floorplan elements

such as zones and rails to edit them.

• Pan Tool - When this tool is selected you can move your floorplan into view by clicking

and dragging on it.

• Add Zone - Use this tool to quickly create a new zone on your floorplan. Create zones

to divide your floorplan into areas.

• Add Location - Use this tool to quickly create a new location on your floorplan.

Locations are points of interest on your floorplan such as shops, restaurants or car parks.

• Add Rail - Use this tool to quickly create a new rail on your floorplan. Rails are paths

on your floorplan.

• Add Node - Use this tool to quickly create a new node on your floorplan. Nodes are

junction points such as entrances, exits, lifts, escalators or stairs.

• Add Hardware - Use this tool to quickly add hardware and sensors to your floorplan

and position them.

Standard Development Tools

On the right of the screen you have the standard development tools, this also allows you to create within

the floorplan but will also show already created and the ability to edit if required. From here you can

access the following:

• Zones - From here you can create zones for the floorplan, this will allow for dwell-

based e-shots to be set up and also show the number of users in that zone right now

and how many were there in the last 24 hours.

• Locations - Locations are points of interest on your floorplan such as shops,

restaurants, car parks and information points. You can add, edit and categorise your

locations here.

• Rails - Allows you to create a new rail on your floorplan. There are several types of

rail that you can create including:

o Pedestrian rails

o Car rails

o Bus rails

o Train rails

Nodes will automatically be added at the start and end points of each new rail that you

create.

• Nodes - Nodes are junction points on your floorplan such as entrances, exits, lifts and stairs.

You can add, edit, group and reposition nodes here.

• Hardware - Shows a list of hardware that has been added to the floorplan. You can add, edit,

remove and reposition your hardware here.

Zones

1. To create a new zone, click the button you have 3 different methods, these are:

• - Allows you to draw a freeform zone with as many points as you require.

• - Allows you to draw a square or rectangular (4 sided) zone.

• - Allows you to draw a circular zone.

2. Select the required method depending on the shape of your new zone.

3. Your mouse icon will change to a black +.

4. Click once on the floorplan in the area you want your new zone and drag you mouse to the required

size and location.

5. Click your mouse again to complete the zone creation.

6. The zone will appear on the floorplan with a unique colour defined by the portal. Each zone will have

its own colour.

7. On the right of the screen your new zone will appear at the top of the list and will be named

Unnamed Zone.

8. Click onto the name and give it a unique name applicable to the area.

9. Once named you can now make this zone an Exclusion Zone, this will mean that no data will be

captured in this area, also if any users appear in the zone the system will automatically push them

out of this zone and to its strongest AP signal. It is used to increase the accuracy of the user’s

location and also allow for certain areas of the venue to not record data.

10. To do this click the toggle button, it will change to when active.

11. To delete a zone, click the icon.

12. A confirmation box will appear, click the button.

13. The zone will then be removed.

14. To hide the zones on the floorplan, click the toggle button to off.

15. The Zone will no longer show on the floorplan.

Locations

1. You can add locations to the floorplan, such as shops, restaurants or places of interest, click the

button.

2. A sub menu will appear, allowing to select either to add to the floorplan or a zone.

3. Add to floor plan

a) Selecting to add to the floorplan will change the mouse icon so you can click anywhere within the floorplan to add the location.

b) Clicking the button will confirm the position.

c) Clicking the button will delete the location.

d) When confirmed, on the right of the screen the details box will open.

e) From here we can add the following:

• location name – This will default to the name ‘Location 1’ but can be changed.

• Category – When selected the icon on the floorplan will change to match the selection. You

can select either of the following:

o Retail

o Food and drink

o Entertainment

o Bars and nightclubs

o Banks and cash points

o Exits and fire escapes

o Customer information

o First aid station

o Disabled access

o Parking

• Description – This will allow you to give a description of this location.

• Small logo – You can browse for an image to replace the dot on the floorplan.

• Large logo – This will appear when the user clicks on the location.

• Move – You can move the location to a different point on the floorplan if required.

f) You can now either save or cancel the location.

g) Click the button.

4. Add to zone

a) When selecting to add to a zone the location box will open instantly. You will have the same options to complete as you did when adding to the floorplan except now you have an extra drop-down box called Zone to complete.

b) Clicking the zone drop down will display any zones created on this floorplan, selecting one will place the location in the centre of that zone.

Rails

You can create rails in your venue to help improve the accuracy of the location data in the venue as it

drags users in close proximity to the rail. This is especially useful for identifying aisles and walkways in a

venue.

1. To create a Rail, click the button.

2. You can now select the type, these are either:

• Pedestrian

• Car

• Bus

• Train

3. The mouse cursor will change to a large + icon and a node will automatically appear at the

beginning and the end.

4. You can now draw your rails on the floorplan, click your mouse once where the rail is to start.

5. Drag and click your mouse again where it is to stop, you now have the option to stop completely or

carry on in a different direction.

6. To carry on click your mouse on the floorplan at the next point and continue with this step until you

have finished, each click will have another node added.

7. To stop, press ENTER on the keyboard.

8. The new rail will appear on the floorplan.

9. On the right of the screen the system would have given the rail a name by default, clicking on the

name will allow you to then rename the rail to something more appropriate.

10. You now have Rail snap, this will drag users within the set threshold to the rail.

11. This is turned on by default, to turn off click the toggle button.

12. You can change the threshold by clicking into the threshold box and inputting the new amount in

cm.

13. You also have the option to show the threshold overlay on the rail within the floorplan.

14. Once complete click the button.

15. To hide the rail on the floorplan, click the toggle button to off. The Rail will disappear

off the floorplan.

16. To delete the rail, click the button.

Nodes

When expanded some nodes may have been added to the floorplan automatically when a rail was

created so will appear here with the same rail name. You can edit or create additional nodes as required.

1. To add a new node, click the button.

2. The sub menu will appear, you can select the following:

• Junction

• Entrance/Exit

• Lift

• Escalator up

• Escalator down

• Escalator end

• Stairs

• Other

3. The node box will open on the right.

4. You can now edit the node type by selecting a different icon.

5. Give the node a name.

6. Assign to a group from the drop-down menu, if one has been created.

7. If a group hasn’t been created click the Or create new group toggle button to on.

8. An additional field will appear allowing you to give the new group an ID.

9. You can move the node to a new location on the floorplan by clicking the button if

required.

10. Click the button.

11. The new node will now appear in the list.

12. To edit any existing nodes, click the arrow.

13. The node box will open displaying the information entered, you can edit any of the details and click

save when complete.

14. To delete a node, click the button.

15. You can also hide the nodes on the floorplan by clicking the Show toggle button to off.

Hardware

You can add hardware to your floorplan, along with a unique name, the make and model and also its

MAC address.

1. Click the button.

2. The following will appear on the floorplan:

3. You can now position the AP on the floorplan by dragging and dropping the green circle in its

required location. The X, Y details will change as you move the AP.

4. Click the green tick when you are happy with the AP’s position.

5. The following will expand on the right.

6. Now enter the hardware name.

7. Enter the MAC address.

8. Select the hardware type from the drop-down menu.

9. Now click the button.

10. The hardware will save in its current location.

11. You can now add any additional hardware to the floorplan.

View Mode

By default, when first accessing the floorplan you will be in Edit mode, this will mean that no data is

recalled until you are in View mode. Edit mode doesn’t load data so that it is quicker for you to create

any of the above options. When you want to see data, you can change the mode to view, this will

change the options on the left and right and also start to pull through the data.

1. Click the button to change to View mode.

2. Data will now start to be pulled through and dots will start to appear on the floorplan.

The timeline

1. The 24-hour timeline will be hidden by default clicking the button will show

the timeline and it will appear towards the top of the screen. It will be today’s date by default but

can be changed to any date as required. (as long as there is data captured that day)

2. You can hide the timeline if required by clicking the button again. Click this

icon again will bring the time line back.

3. You can specify a time frame in order to show the movements around your venue for a certain time

period using the time line.

4. Using the drag handle on the 24-hour timeline, slide the first handle on the left to your start

time.

5. Now position the other drag handle to the end time.

6. The area in-between the two drag handles will appear on the timeline in blue.

7. Now click the icon to begin. The data will start from your start time and will

automatically stop at your set end time.

Selecting a different date

1. To change the date of the data you are viewing, click the icon.

2. The calendar will expand, click the required date from the calendar.

3. To change the month, click the month at the top, this will then give you the ability to select to

required month.

4. The screen will refresh and start showing the data collected on that day.

Selecting the play speed

You can change the play speed of the data being shown on your floorplan, this is only for previous data

collected so cannot be used when in Live view.

1. To change the speed, click the icon.

2. The available speeds are as follows:

• x1 speed

•

• x5 speed

•

• x10 speed

•

• x50 speed

•

• x100 speed

•

• x500 speed

Real time

1. The watch the data live, click the button, the 24-hour time line will disappear, the

will change to .

2. To stop Real time view, click the icon and the time line will return and data will stop.

Footfall or Heat map

1. You can change the view on the floorplan to show users either as Footfall or Heat map; by default, it

will be set to Footfall.

2. The data shown on the floorplan will change depending on the choice

3. Footfall will show an icon to represent a WiFi enabled device found.

4. A Heat map will show a circled colour that will change depending on numbers .

5. To change the view, click either:

• Footfall -

• Heatmap -

Sidebars (Left & Right)

1. On the left you now have only two options, these are:

• Select -

• Pan -

2. On the right, there are only 3 options, these are:

• Overview reports – This will give you a breakdown of the data.

• Data overlay – What additional information is to be displayed on the floorplan.

• Visitor and devices – Gives the data for each known user and unknown devices.

Overview reports

Will show information that will change as users enter and leave the venue, these are:

• Number of devices -

• Number of Males and Females -

• Number of devices and brand, shown as a donut -

• Number of different connection methods -

• Number of users within certain age ranges -

• Number of users in a certain zone now and in the last 24 hours -

Data Overlay

1. By default, will show all the male, female and unknowns on the floorplan as coloured circle icons.

They appear as follows:

• Male

• Female

• Unknown

2. You can turn the data overlay off by clicking the toggle button.

3. You can also add more data overlays onto these icons, clicking the relevant option. They will add

additional colours to user in the venue, these are broken down as follows:

• Age Range

• Number of Visits

• Login Method

• Dwell Time

Visitor and Devices

Once a user has logged into the WiFi and they appear on the floorplan, you are able to click the icon and

see the details captured for them. This will also show the details about the unknown users in the venue

but this is limited information.

1. Once you select Visitors and devices from the dropdown menu it will split the information into two

sections:

• Known – Users logged into the WiFi.

• Unknown – Devices not logged into the WiFi.

2. By default, the known users will be displayed.

3. Clicking any of the profiles listed will display the user on the floorplan.

4. You can also search by clicking into Search by name box on the Known section or Search by device

type for the unknowns, then typing the relevant details to search for.

5. Clicking any icon on the floorplan will also open the visitor and devices area on the right and display

the relevant profile details.

6. The unknowns will appear as the make of the device and the number of visits.

Saving Floorplans

Once you make a change to the floorplan you are able to then save it as a different version.

1. As soon as a change has been made to the floorplan the button goes from

Grey to green.
