Auma is a dining destinationthat different from many of itscontemporaries. Firstly, therestaurant located in DLFEmporio, Vasant Kunj, is spreadover an area of 4,200 sq feet, aspace not found in many finedining restaurants. The spaceand luxury define the joint thatserves European, Italian and
Thai cuisine. Dishes from allthe three sections have beenselected carefully.
Here, one can get the foodcustomised to suit one’s palette. Thus eating at Auma is a per-sonal experience. Soups andsalads are the mainstay hereand should not be missed. Soupslike Kaeng Cherd Tauhu Lod,a clear vegetable and silky beansoup garnished with sautéedgarlic, and the wild mushroomsoup with the essence of truf-fle are surely a treat. The finequality of the leafy vegetables
makes the salads refreshingand colourful too.
Pizzas are available in regu-lar and low calorie varieties. The base is whole wheat and
one can choose from a varietyof toppings including spinach, ham, pine nuts, artichoke, brae(soft cheese), prawns andscamorza (cheese made frommilk of an Italian cow).
There are plenty of choicesin both vegetarian and non-veg-etarian food. Different types ofmushrooms and prawns havebeen used extensively in manydishes and some of the favouritesare button mushrooms andcashewnuts cooked with Thaistir-fried sauce and tiger prawnsstir-fried with salt and pep-
per. Mashed potato with roast-ed chicken leg that is not com-monly found on the menu of afine dining restaurant is sure-ly a delight. Potatoes are mashedto perfection in butter and thechicken is succulent. Pastas areno different here and one cando without them.
But perhaps what is mostenjoyable and unforgettable atAuma is the sweet delights. Aspoonful of tiramisu, cappuc-cino foam and baileys ice creamis the perfect way to wrap upthe meal. And if one still has
the appetite for more then thereare homemade baileys, Belgianchocolate, strawberry, caramelice cream and green apple andfresh lime sorbet.
The interiors of Auma havebeen done tastefully, especial-ly the semi-enclosed roundwooden structures add to thetasteful experience.
