Custom User RolesRelease - June 2013IntroductionCustom User Roles allow you the ability to provide abilities to either default or new custom roles based on your business needs.

This is perfect for marketing users who need access to layout templates or sales managers who need to access email reports.

Custom user roles are included at the Ultimate level and available at the Pro level for an additional fee. Currently not available at the Standard level. Contact our Client Advocate team for details.

Pardot provides for an unlimited number of custom user roles.2

12Customize Default RolesCustomizing Default RolesYou can customize any Default Role (Sales User, Sales Manager, Marketing User, Administrator) to include access to the features and functionality abilities your users need.

First, copy the default role you wish to customize. Then update the user abilities for the new custom user role. Finally, save your new custom user role and then assign your users to the new custom role.14Copy Default Roles for Customization

15How to Edit Custom RolesThe Create/Edit and Delete abilities are dependent upon the user having View abilities.

Pardot will automatically check/uncheck abilities as appropriate to preserve the View, Create/Edit, Delete abilities hierarchy.

If a user does not have View abilities, they will not be able to Create, edit, or delete. 16Custom Role Management

Add Users to Custom RolesFor new users, you can assign them to a previously created Custom User Role during the user import process.

18Add Users to Custom RolesAdd a batch of users to a custom role using Table Actions

20Deleting Custom RolesPardot will automatically prompt you to reassign any existing users who also have the same custom roles and abilities.

21Deleting Custom RolesDeleting Custom Roles will not remove users from your account.

The deleted Custom Role will be moved to the Recycle Bin and can later be restored to your account if necessary. To access the Recycle Bin, navigate to Administration > Recycle Bin > Custom Roles.

You can access previously deleted Custom Roles by accessing the Recycle Bin and restoring them.

22Managing Custom Roles Moving ForwardFor new connectors, marketing elements, or other additions to your account, the default for any Custom User Role is no access. You must grant access to these items at the Custom User Role level. Connector level abilities will be located under the Admin tab within custom user role

For example, if you would like to connect the GoToWebinar connector and provide specific Create/Edit, View, and Reporting abilities, you will need to implement those abilities within each user role needing access.23
