I have within my working career had extensive senior management, project experience and company / division start-ups, in manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, fleet and purchasing procurement divisions of industry. These positions have given me the opportunity to pass on training though experience, that I have gained over the years, and different industry types for the mentoring of up and coming supervisors and junior managers which benefitted within these companies towards a competent future generation of control and supervision to high quality, efficient response with a knowledge of cost control.

I am said to be a people’s manager being able to communicate, encourage, mentor and teach while getting the required return on total assets

I have had responsibilities within the scopes of work to be involved in most products including textiles, plastics, timber, chemical, recycling, and lead acid batteries in the manufacturing, logistics end to end supply chain, and planning divisions.

I being driven by personal satisfaction of the successes have continued to look for the opportunity of a new challenges

I also have had an early exposure to Supply Chain, Warehousing, Manufacturing, and Logistics etc. and I worked my way up through the years from having hands on experience from basic on floor and store techniques to middle and then senior management of large scale movement of materials within the branch and franchise supply chain. I have also had the opportunity of starting from scratch through project development the successful installation, control and operational methods of large planned and controlled stores with turn overs in excess of R1bill per year the experience which I have always been grateful off.

Employment Experience Duties and Responsibilities within the Supply Chain and Operational Control Systems

First National Batteries - Manufacturer of Lead Acid Batteries 1988 to 2015Product identification – Chloride, Exide, Bartlite, and Raylite and the new range of Gel Batteries for the automotive companies, Miners Cap lamp and Industrial cells

FNB are a large battery manufacturer and distributer of over 3 million automotive batteries to all of the OE vehicle manufacturers in South Africa, plus 300000 miners cap lamps and 30000 mine and forklift batteries per year to mines and industry

During the positions I headed up I was in charge of the movement of the materials required to manufacture stock sell and distribute through raw material, WIP, and Finished goods stores covering the responsibility of all controls required to ensure accurate stock measurement and on time delivery internal and external.My team also supplied 140 + franchises country wide, specialised and intercompany branches by picking packing quality checking volume to invoice and type to request on a fleet of 35 trucks and 4 fleet sub-contractors.Within this group I was happy to train many of my staff from floor level to accomplished positions as buyers, line supervisors, planners, stock controllers, material handlers, dispatch clerks , loaders and quality controllers many of which have full qualification some with degrees in their selected fields List of duties pertaining to the positions held

Manager New Project MRP (Material Requirements Planning) BenoniDuties & Responsibilities

The communication and control of the company’s national stock in conjunction with the services of the consultant team of CLX

The introduction of live control systems which covered stock max and min coverage to actual and forecasted sales

Full start-up from scratch of a division which arranged for cold contacted suppliers and controlled franchise members to sell on at fixed rate per moth their scrap battery returns.

Marketing through the media which was commended through various newspapers, mention on Carte Blanche and Creamers Engineering News.

Eco friendly education to ensure that contaminated old batteries could be returned at a value per kg to the customer instead of polluting the land.

Introduce a scrap battery web site with animation for the training of collection of scrap to the schools

Reduced the cost of raw material through the lower priced raw material which aided in the controlled cost of the finished battery product to the public in the face of low cost imported products.

Trained purchasers, franchises and branches on the recovery system Installed a trained stock and customer liaison person the control the type and

volume purchased at competitive pricing. Trained a manager to take over my position at the end of the project Work to a target of 1500ton of scrap batteries per month Achieving and setting permanent within the 1 year board target

National Purchasing / Logistics / Distribution and Fleet Manager Duties and responsibilities

Overseeing design and control of the supply chain end to end Introduction of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) and (Manufacturing

Resource Planning) Raw material purchasing and procurement local and import Raw material planning through stock control methods based on max min plus

delivery lag supplier to stock Manufacturing supply from stock to branches Finished goods stock holding national, based on live sales movement. Picking packing and invoicing of stock into holding for dispatch Dispatch quality, quantity, packing and distribution by internal fleet and

subcontracted fleet Measure design and purchase of fleet by size and efficiency to meet the need.

This was operated until with the aid of external consultants updated into JDE

Group Purchasing Manager - Duties and responsibilities

Annual purchases amounting to R600 mill To set up a purchasing chain of 9 buyers including myself as bulk purchasing

international with a controlled central website for communicative price control Negotiate contracts for bulk raw materials annual and quarterly to fixed budgets Negotiate contracts for services such as Gas, Fleet transport, Security etc. Measure monthly savings to the board and its control target (maximum success

achieved through 9 buyers a saving of R25mill in one year) Set agreements for suppliers to comply to ISO 9001/2000 – 14000 – 18000 and TS

16949:2009 Automotive standards as a requirement for OE supply chains Install agreements that only suppliers from a rating of level 4 and upwards could

supply to meet the BBBEE standards set by government By setting these standards achieved a level 3 BBBEE in purchasing procurement

for the group

Plant / Factory Manager Duties and responsibilities

Total responsibility of the plant staff and operations at the Benoni plant Manufacturing planning of lead and finished industrial and automotive products Engineering maintenance and civil upkeep and upgrade of the plant Safety of the plant and on-route control for staff, contractors, and visitors Stock planning and stock control of the on-site stores Sales control to stock planning controls and target of stock control settings
