PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Executive Director & Principal Consultant, (2010 onwards) Wasafiri Consulting. Co- founder and manager of consulting firm that helps companies, governments and other partners deliver change in Africa. I have ultimate responsibility for all aspects of this growing business including strategy, finances, marketing, service delivery and human resources. Our practice areas include agriculture, conflict and stabilisation, health, climate change and governance. Personal clients have included: Grow Africa: See roles below contracted through Wasafiri. USAID, GIZ and DFID: Co-ordination of multilateral support by development partners to CAADP - Africa’s plan to boost agriculture and food security. Included work on G8, Horn of Africa crisis, CAADP’s long-term strategy, Non-State Actor participation, and development of a Mutual Accountability Framework. Pepsico: Technical support for development of nutrition strategy for emerging markets. Swiss Re: Innovation of business strategy for pro-poor crop insurance. Head of Operations (2012-14), Head of Learning and Accountability (2014 onwards) Grow Africa. Instrumental role played in establishing and managing this initiative, co-founded by the World Economic Forum and African Union, to accelerate inclusive and responsible investment in to African agriculture. Grow Africa has mobilised $10 billion of investment commitments from over 200 companies, of which over $1 billion has been realised, reaching 2.6 million smallholders and creating 30,000 jobs. Specific roles include: Developing and evolving the strategy, budgets and M&E framework. Securing donor finance of $10mn to date, plus reporting against this. Managing Annual Report as tool for mutual accountability and learning amongst cross- sector partners. Foundation of Smallholder Working Group to help businesses innovate and scale inclusive strategies.
