Design & Sustainability Sustainability Outreach Officer, SSF: April 02- July 04Southampton Sustainability Forum is an environmental NGO acting as a critical friend to the city council. In my role, I used creativity to raise awareness of sustainability. I: • Developed a series of giant sculptures across the city to raise awareness about recycling• Created a legal graffiti project with Millbrook Youth Club that helped to combat crime and disorder in the city. This led to the successful launch of a new council initiative• Developed and distributed web based Sustainability Information Pack for local schools
Self employed Public Artist and Designer: 91- 01 & 2005-06I founded and ran my own company designing and creating new sustainable products, murals and public art installations for professional and private commissions around the world. Commissions included:• Pirelli mural, Hampshire - corporate commission, created 500m² mural for Pirelli factory.• Developed & created new simple, sustainable, elegant wine rack called ‘Woodpecker’.• A Healthy Practice, Arts into Health project - won Arts Council funding to develop an interactive project (in association with Walsall Community Arts Team), helping Art and Health Development workers to improve their working practises.• Message in a Bottle - sponsored by Groundwork, (environmental NGO). Developed and managed a project raising awareness about low levels of plastic recycling. I designed and built an 8ft high, plastic, self-supporting geodesic dome from 4,000 water bottles, collected from the London Marathon and held together by 40,000 rubber bands.• NPD for GalxoSmithKline. I developed initial patent of a new concept bottle design which evolved from my designs of the Dome project. I presented the concept to GSK and worked with them over several months to see how my idea could be developed for Ribena• LaSalle School of Art and Design, Singapore -lectured & ran undergraduate workshops in 3D design and sustainability. • Giant Sand Sculptures - created in Malaysia with a group of local men• Sandblasting intricate designs on large sheet glass for private commissions• Huge public murals commissioned by the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, Bracknell Forrest Council, Surrey Heath Council, Johnson Wax and Lloyds Bank.

My interests include rugby, photography, film, comedy, scuba diving and travel. I have travelled extensively throughout South East Asia, Nepal India, Europe, Israel, and America and lived in Australia for 2 years. I admire Banksy for his astute satirical slant on the world and I am inspired by the pioneering designs of Buckminster Fuller who created sustainable structures with simplicity and elegance.
