WELCOME to what will be an amazing evening of music– a performance comprised of the many festival pieces that the instrumental music students have been working on for the past few months.

This is the perfect opportunity to recognize someone who is always first to acknowledge the achievements of his students, always ahead of–and usually instead of – himself. Thank you to our Instrumental Music Director, Mr. Mathew Schick. You inspire our students to excel in all that they do, both inside and out of the music room. The continued success of our students and the music program is a direct result of your hard work and steadfast dedication. Thank you for all that you do!

Thank you also to the many supporters, donors, and volunteers who have contributed, in so many ways, to the CV Instrumental Music Department and to the CVIM Foundation throughout the year. Your continued support makes it possible for this amazing instrumental music program to thrive and build upon the many successes it has experienced – past and present.

Welcome to the 2018 Crescenta Valley High School Instrumental Spring Concert!

WE are glad you are here and it is our pleasure to perform the music we worked up for the festivals, for our parents

and the community. This concert is slightly different from our Winter and Pops Concert in that there is no set “theme.” If there had to be a theme, then the theme would simply be “music.” This concert is primarily about the music and our students’ ability to interpret the composer’s intent effectively to an audience.

Most of the music you will hear tonight has already been performed and evaluated at Southern California School Band & Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) and Glendale Unifi ed School District (GUSD) Festivals last week. Wind Ensemble and String Orchestra received the high ratings of Excellent. Concert Band and Symphony Orchestra both received the stellar rating of Unanimous Superior and will perform on April 19th at a Regional Festival where only groups receiving Superior ratings are invited to perform.

We are also using this concert to help us prepare for our upcoming Spring Trip to San Francisco where Symphony Orchestra and Concert Band will perform at a California Music Educators Association (CMEA) festival at Sonoma High School.

So sit back, relax, and let the amazing music performed by our talented young musicians create magical musical moments for all.
