Ad Hoc committee on Review of Merit Raise Guidelines (2006 – 2007, UA) Ad hoc committee on Review of College By-laws (2008) These committees were formed in response to unionization of the faculty at Akron in 2005, where detailed knowledge of both university administration, the collective bargaining agreement, and faculty RTP guidelines were needed.

In addition, served on numerous student advisory, research proposal, comprehensive examination and thesis defense committees (ca. 10 per year not including own students).

(ii) Faculty Level

Faculty Promotion & Tenure Committee (1995 - 2000, UW), reviewed all P&T actions within the Faculty of Science, made recommendations to the Dean

H. A. Morton Visiting Professorship (2005 – present, UA), made recommendations and nominations of distinguished visiting faculty to College faculty. Hosted one visiting professor (S. Sivaram) in 2006 and organized his one semester lectureship.

Faculty Retention, Promotion & Tenure Committee (2005 - 2007, UA), reviewed all RTP actions within the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering and made recommendations to the Dean.

(iii) University Level Technology Transfer and Licensing Committee (1995 - 2000, UW) reviewed university technology

and made recommendations for patenting and licensing of same, as well as review of procedures dealing with negotiation of contracts and other agreements. Reported to the Vice President, Research & Technology

Advisory Committee to the Vice-President, Academic and Provost (2003-04, UA) provided the VP Academic & Provost with advice on all applicable university matters. Faculty are eligible to serve only two years.

(iv) Professional Activities ~ 12 manuscripts per year for the period 1995-2010 (at least one a month).
