Profile I am a Glasgow based designer with over ten years of industry experience. I currently work for Yomego as their Senior Digital Designer and run a successful freelance business in my spare time. My main area of expertise is front-end web design and development but I’m also a skilled animator, illustrator and graphic designer. Unlike others in my field, I wouldn’t say that I had a particular style. Whether it’s replicating established artwork such as the Horrible Histories books, designing entirely new characters or creating corporate websites - I pride myself on being able to adapt. I have a solid understanding of both the creative and technical limitations of HTML/JS and Flash design, as well as how to get the best from both. This makes it very easy for me to integrate with a development team and package my work appropriately. My passion for design means I’m driven to learn new technologies and this has resulted in my extremely varied skill set. I am currently dabbling in 3D modelling and animation. I had some training in 3DsMax some years ago and hope to pick up where I left off in Cinema 4D. Achievements Published in The Web Designers Ideas Book by Patrick McNeil, showcased in a section about 3D illustration elements in web design. Work Experience

Freelance web & graphic designer[Jun 2000 - Present]

I started my career creating promotional print material for various Glasgow clubs and businesses to fund my time at university. Within a year was I producing national material for TGI Fridays and Starbucks.

After graduating I put my freelance work on hold except for occasional branding work and some simple brochureware sites. In late 2010 I relaunched my portfolio with the aim of generating some new freelance opportunities. Traffic increased substantially (18,000 unique visits in just 4 months), resulting in regular work and some well established clients.

YomegoSenior Digital Designer[Mar 2008 - Present]

I was brought in to the DA Group to develop avatar based solutions for their clients, Mtv and Jetix. After a few months the company refocused and split into 3 divisions (a design agency, a white label platform and a bespoke animation software development house). I wanted project variety so chose to stay on and re-brand their newly formed design agency, Yomego.

My day-to-day responsibilities include managing and signing off on the creative output of another designer and the various freelancers we often employ.

I am involved in every stage of our projects, creating wireframe concepts and seeing them through to final solutions. These can be websites, advertising campaigns, social media presences and even Flash games.

I recently redesigned the Yomego website and my designs are currently being rolled out section by section.

WeeWorld.com LtdSenior Design Lead[Nov 2005 - Mar 2008]

I joined WeeWorld in 2005 as their sole designer and went on to manage teams of other creatives. They expanded to a company of over 60 people with offices in Glasgow, London and Boston.

I developed the first incarnation of WeeWorld.com from concept to the final product (responsible for all graphics and html code), working closely with teams of ActionScript and .NET developers.

teleIT/Index InternationalWeb Designer[Nov 2004 - Nov 2005]

I designed and authored teleIT’s sites, working with developers who built systems for eCommerce and content management.

One of my main roles was to ensure that they reached the required levels of compliance and could be accessed by disabled users. I also performed health checks and updates for older sites.
