Regional Chamber of Commerce Networking Luncheon On Tuesday, April 23, CVCC hosted the Annual Regional Chamber of Commerce Networking Luncheon in the Valley Inn Restaurant. This event brings our affiliated Chambers of Commerce together for the opportunity to hear what is happening at CVCC, network, and hear a speaker. This year, the speaker was Bernie Moreno who presented on “Blockchain for Business.” Attendees heard about Mr. Moreno’s vision as to why Blockchain is so important for our region. Thank you to Ohio Secretary of State, Frank LaRose, and Ohio Senator, Matt Dolan for also being a part of the event. The luncheon was organized by Community Liaisons Darden Blake and Marie Elias, who represent CVCC at district community chamber meetings and events throughout the year. Early Placement Update The 2018-19 Early Placement program for our High School seniors had its final release period beginning April 2, allowing students, with instructor recommendation, to go to work. During Early Placement, students work four afternoons a week instead of attending their CVCC program so they can have real life work experience to increase their job-ready skills and possibly lead to full-time employment following the completion of their program. As of April 22, there are 77 students from 15 different programs participating in Early Placement, one in an Apprenticeship program and two students on Non-Paid Internships. Students are making a minimum of $8.55 (State of Ohio minimum wage) and up to $14 per hour at this time. We appreciate the support of our local businesses putting our students to work: G&B Electric Co., Heartland of Twinsburg, Jennings Center for Older Adults, Ken Stewart’s Tre Belle, Nook Industries, Papandreas Orthodontics, Sohar’s All Season Mower Service, and Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse to name a few. We wish CVCC’s working students the best of luck as they contribute to our region’s workforce. NHS Transition Career and Job Fair Information Day On Thursday, April 18, Nordoina High School hosted a Transition Career and Job Fair Information Day. The event was organized by Debbie Monaco, CVCC Career Specialist who serves the Nordonia News Flash! CVCC Board of Education April 25, 2019
