ISSUE 35 ၊ May 2017
The new school year has started and with it, many excited, curious, smiling and motivated young faces entered the CVT school hallways, teaching rooms, the new library or the attractive new lunch area on the 6th floor. A truly joyful atmo-sphere that nurtures our motivation to continue and improve our efforts to guide theses youngsters on their way to a bright future. As the quote states, a solid education including theoretical and practical knowledge as well as the nowadays so important soft skills are the passport to the future. We are very proud of our apprentices that they proactively seize this chance and prepare themselves today for a future that certainly brings about many opportunities, but equally as many uncertainties. All the more, it is substantial that we support them in getting ready for jobs that have not yet been created, technologies that have not yet been invented and problems that we don’t know will arise. Our apprentices are on their way to acquire the core competencies that will enable and empower them to tackle such challenges. The future is yours!

Further Education in Sports (FES Myanmar) is a joint insti-tution between Swiss and Myanmar sports experts with the aim to develop school sports in Myanmar and a project of E4Y. Two intense weeks of expert exchange at E4Y led to the successful production of a new handbook “Mod-ule 4 – Myanmar Games” for sports teachers, this year. It includes a compilation of Myanmar indoor and outdoor sports games that can be individually adapted to the sports lessons at the local schools. Children will have fun while they are playing the games and learning at the same time. It is such a great success for FES Myanmar because com-bining sport and education together is an essential part of children’s proper learning. We, CVT, are very thankful to those experts and teachers who contributed to this effort. Congratulation!

“Hotel & Gastronomy Profession” has successfully created a new curriculum design concept from 2017/2018 school year onwards. The new design enables all apprentices to learn all professional related subjects, FO, HK, F&B and Kitchen in both First and Second year and then they en-hance their choice of majoring subject groups accord-ingly to their preference and to their related workplace e.g, either they choose to attend F&B Operations (F&B Service+ Cuisine) or Room Division Operations (Front Of-fice + Housekeeping). The CVT certificates will be in two different majoring subject groups; CVT Diploma in Food and Beverage Operations and CVT Diploma in Room Divi-sion Operations, which actually meet up to the standard of NSSA & ASEAN Level 3. All procedures and entrance requirement will remain the same as before. First year apprentices are now happily studying new classes of this

“Sharing and exchanging professional expertise and ex-periences across national boundaries and cultures is a re-warding and inspiring experience. Together with the ded-icated, supportive management and the highly motivated and hard-working teachers we can make a difference in the lives of our students who should always be the focus of our endeavors. This notion is supported by one of the highlights of my expert mission this year. Together with the management and the E4Y teachers, we initiated the development of the curricula in various subjects at E4Y; a combined effort hopefully resulting in comprehensive, up to date curricula which will finally benefit our learners“
