The two top performers from over 1,000 fresh graduate applicants were handpicked to join a 12-month intensive training program last year at a generous monthly salary of HK$36,000. They were “fired” upon the completion of the training program, and were required to reapply for new permanent positions in the company at market rate. NiQ Lai, Head of Talent Engagement & CFO said, “At HKBN, we think differently. We make exceptional career-changing investments in our Talents at all levels, be it entry level or senior executives, and then proactively upgrade their career responsibility and authority to keep them engaged and challenged.” The program is instilled to train future C-suite leaders in shortest time. Not only did the trainees have wide exposure to business operations and the valuable opportunity to learn from top brains in the company, they were also asked to perform beyond their capabilities during the training program. “Everyone responds well to success but it is how one responds to adversity that makes great leaders,” said NiQ Lai. “We gave our trainees plenty of adversities during their training year ---to pass CFA Level 1, run a half marathon, read at least one management book every month followed by writing self-reflection papers --- to name a few.” On completing the management trainee program, Kiana Shek said, “We have gained hands-on experience to the secrets of success on a fast track. Throughout the journey, I matured significantly and now have confidence to confront new challenges and reap fruitful rewards.” “It’s joyful to have successfully overcome the challenges and completed the program. My horizon was expanded and I grew much faster than my peers. I believe the key to success is the appropriate mentalities that I gained in the process,” Mingo Tsang added. Both trainees now successfully secured their long-term roles in HKBN with Mingo based in Hong Kong as Assistant Manager, Customer Relations, and Kiana in Shanghai and Beijing as Assistant Manager, China Business, Business Development. What’s more, they were invited to be one of the Co-owners of HKBN.

NiQ Lai, Head of Talent Engagement & CFO said, “At HKBN, we think differently. We make

followed by writing self-reflection papers --- to name a few.”

On completing the management trainee program, Kiana Shek said, “We have gained hands-on

experience to the secrets of success on a fast track. Throughout the journey, I matured

“It’s joyful to have successfully overcome the challenges and completed the program. My

horizon was expanded and I grew much faster than my peers. I believe the key to success is the

appropriate mentalities that I gained in the process,” Mingo Tsang added.

Both trainees now successfully secured their long-term roles in HKBN with Mingo based in Hong

Kong as Assistant Manager, Customer Relations, and Kiana in Shanghai and Beijing as Assistant

Manager, China Business, Business Development. What’s more, they were invited to be one of
