The award was presented at the Fourth of July celebration on the Common following the parade. May, a long time resident of Amherst, was recog- nized for her good citizenship, volunteerism, participation, concern and actions to help make Amherst a great commu- nity to live in. Presently, she is the executive director of the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce. Local Resident Wins Prius! 2012 Toyota Prius Car Raffle Benefits Historic Meeting House of Amherst AMHERST – Congratu- lations to Jean Tonnesen! Jean won a silver 2012 Toy- ota Prius, valued at $25,000, in the car raffle benefiting the Historic Meeting House of Amherst. Town Clerk Nancy Demers pulled the winning ticket at the raffle, which was held July 14th at the Congregational Church of Amherst. Jean has been an active member of the Congregational Church of Amherst for more than 40 years, in the Women’s As- sociation, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Congregational Care Team, Memorial Gifts Committee, and Church Council. She was employed by the Amherst school dis- trict for 17 years, and is (L to R): Robert Draper, VP of Marketing, Toyota of Nashua. Bob Lessard, Toyota of Nashua. Jean Tonnesen, winner!
