Kilco are at the forefront of biosecurity and animal health and our on farm team work hard to support our customers. Our extensive knowledge of biosecurity and hygiene allow us to give advice on best practice for all types of farm.

We recommend the use of a robust cleaning and disinfection programme on farm to reduce the chance of livestock picking up diseases causing by poor hygiene practices.

We also provide a range of animal health products which can help to reduce infection rates by boosting the animal’s

immune system. Our range of colostrums, drenches and nutritional supplements should be used in conjunction with your hygiene programme to improve profitability on farm.

For more details of our range please speak to your Kilco Account Manager.

Coccidiosis and Cryptosporidium affect cattle, sheep, goats, poultry and pigs and are commonly seen in young, housed animals or those in confined areas. In many cases animals suffering from Crypto or Cocci will show few external symptoms, the animals will simply fail to thrive, squeezing prodit margins.

Medication may be used to shorten the length of illness and lessen the chance of secondary infections. However it is far more effective to reduce infection rates in the first place by preventing the intake of oocysts by the young animals.

Biosecurity has an essential role to play in achieving this and our on farm team can offer advice and work with you to draw up a tailored hygiene plan for your site.
