SCREWS BY GROCHE. PRECISION FOR YOUR PLASTICS.
We manufacture screws as individually as plastics. They are performance opti-mised, highly resistant to wear and tear and corrosion-proof. Our screw produc-tion can fulfil your requirements from 12 mm to 140 mm in diameter up to a length of 5000 mm. The manufacture of screws for plastic injection moulding machines sets increased demands on the production process as far as finis-hing precision and surface consistency is concerned, in order to minimise friction.
The screw has the task of drawing in the granular plastic, to continously convey, to compress and to perfectly homoge-nise in the output area.
Groche screws have an exact geometry, which is suited to the relevant demands and areas of application.
3-zone standard screw
The standard screw has proven successful in processing most plastics. We design optimum geometries for specialised applications. Our classic.

CYLINDERS BY GROCHE . PRECISION FOR YOUR PLASTICS.
We manufacture cylinders in high wear and corrosion resistance designs from 12 mm to 200 mm in diameter, up to a length of 5000 mm.
The cylinder’s tasks are static. It under-goes high levels of pressure and tensi-on when thermally loaded. Borehole surfaces must resist wear and corrosion caused by the plastics.
The cylinder feeding zone can be opti-mised for each individual application.
Our product range comprises of ther-moplastic, thermoset plastics, silicone and elastomer processing in the appro-priate optimum qualities.

THE ACTIVE SCREW-TIP-SETS BY GROCHE.
Function
This specially constructed "active" crew-tip-set shuts off after dosing without further movement of the screw.
The shut-off process takes place imme-diately after dosing by means of a lead bolt, a pressure spring and a sealing cone.
The input housing serves to ensure precise processing within the cylinder. The threaded bolt fixes the "active" crew-tip-set in the screw.
Standard systems are only closed pas-sive by the injection process and the resultant injection pressure.

THE SPRING ACTIVATED SHUT-OFF NOZZLES BY GROCHE.
Application
The spring actuated shut-off-nozzle type A, is opened via melt-pressure and closed via spring pressure.
The SON is responsible for the clean separation of the molten mass and reliable shut-off during dosing and is the prerequisite for fault free economic production.
The GT-SON stands out with its com-pact, modular construction.
It guarantees fault-free functioning and optimum flow geometry.
The shut-off system separates the flow of the mass, depending on the process, at a defined point.
Targeted deployment of wear protecti-on guarantees a long service life.
Description of function
The spring loaded SON type A is opened by the pressure of the molten mass and is shut off by the power of the spring.
A needle that moves axially in the SON is pushed by the power of the spring via the pressure pin to the SON outlet drill hole. The nozzle’s outlet opening is shut. The nozzle opens with increasing molten mass pressure, which operates via a ring surface on the needle against the power of the spring, at approx. 200 bar. The nozzle shuts off when the molten mass pressure decreases (80 bar). The pressu-rised ring surface of the needle must be made larger (less opening pressure) or smaller (greater opening pressure) when a different opening pressure is required. The pressure spring is not modified, as this would affect its service life. Temperature resistant material up to a maximum of 520°C is selected for the spring.

THE GSM MIXING NOZZLE FROM GROCHE.
Application
The GSM mixing nozzle is used for processing thermoplasts in injection moulding processes.
The design principle of the GSM mixer is unique. Each element divides the dia-meter into two channels, which come together at half of the diameter and then expand again. The channel inlet and outlet are offset by 90°.
The conductive surfaces have a curved geometric definition. Homogenous
mixing is achieved by two effects; ex-ponential layer formation and speed differences of part flows. This enables continual mixing on a minimal mixing line.
Homogenisation of temperature
Polymers are poor conductors of heat. Tests in extruder systems have shown that significant temperature differences can occur at the screw conveyor outlet (up to +/- 20°C).
This problem leads to tolerance devia-tions in the injection moulding process and therefore to an increased reject rate; especially among technical parts.
Temperature differences also mean increased cycle times because the max. temperature peaks in the moulded parts must be considered during cooling. A reduction of the cycle time means additi-onal savings in operating costs.
Advantages
▪ High service life, almost in-
destructible
▪ Even dyeing with improved mel-
ting homogeneity
▪ No significant loss of pressure
▪ For use with almost all materials
▪ Available for all machine types
▪ Self-cleaning, no dead zones

THE PVD METHOD. SERVICE BY GROCHE.
The PVD method
The solid coating of machine parts for plastic processing machines provides the user with significant advantages when high quality demands are placed on the end product to be manufactu-red. The PVD method (Physical Vapour Deposition) is based on vaporisation (ACR) or atomisation (sputtering) of metal components from a fixed metal phase. The coating temperatures are be-low the hardness and annealing tempe-ratures so that a change in size cannot occur and hardness losses are ruled out. The solid layers used most frequently are CrN, CrN modified, CrN multi-layers and TiN. Other benefits of the PVD layers are increases in the service life due to hard surfaces, which are suitable up to max. 15% glass fibre rates. The biggest advantage is the high surface density (lotus flower effect), which prevents plastic adhesions, burning or cracking or immediately flushes them out again.
Advantages
▪ No adhesions
▪ Longer process cycles,
infrequent cleaning
▪ Improved service life
▪ Increase of surface hardness
▪ Reduction of surface reactions
▪ Reduction of friction
▪ Reduction of servicing costs

HVOF REFINEMENT FOR SCREW. SERVICE BY GROCHE.
The HVOF method
The HVOF method is a process for re-finement of screws. At first the screw made of tool steel is roughened. A gas mix is now ignited with a special gun, which causes the metallic powder par-ticles to melt, and they are shot onto the screw at a speed of 750m/s. The kinetic energy of the impact produces additional heat, supports the bond and increases the density; the required hardness levels are achieved.
Advantages
▪ No adhesions
▪ Longer process cycles, infrequent
cleaning
▪ Improved service life
▪ Increase of surface hardness
▪ Reduction of surface reactions
▪ Reduction of friction
▪ Reduction of maintenance costs
The GT 1000 / GT 9000 coatings allow processing temperatures up to 450°C. GT 4000 is suitable up to 600°C.
The screw is fully encapsulated with this method.
A layer thickness of up to 0.25 mm is possible. The screw has the character of a carbide screw combined with the benefit of toughness in the core. Extreme torsion stress on small screws should be avoided.
Groche Technik is the exclusive EXTREME COATINGS partner for Europe.
