2. District Background
The cypress Fairbanks School district currently serves over 108,114 students.The district has over 83 campuses, which includes 52 elementary schools, 17 middle schools, 11 high schools, two alternative schools, two adaptive behavior campuses.
3. Technology expenditures
Teaching and Learning Budget: $ 7,489,685
Educator Preparation and Development Budget: $ 2,046,508
Leadership, Administration and Support budget:$ 8,801,795
Infrastructure for Technology Budget:$36,459,378
Total$54,797.366
4. Computer Ratios
Computer to Student Ration: 3 students for every computer
Computer to Teacher Ratio: 1 Teacher for every computer
5. Teaching Teachers
Cy-Fair currently sets aside well over 2 million dollars a years for training teachers.
Teachers receive training on incorporating 21st century technology into their classrooms.
6. 21st Century Tools
All teachers are required to do the following:
Create and use Wikispaces
All 11th grade students are enrolled in the One-to-One program.This program gives each student a laptop while they are in 11th grade.
Moodle is now being used in 11th grade to go along with the One-to-One program.
Eschool Grade book has been installed through out the district.This provides the teachers with tools that will make them more effective in reaching out to parents, and viewing student data (Devaney, n.d)
Project Share.-A great tool that allows teachers to work together.
7. 21st Century Tools
Edmodo - A social network for teachers and students that allows students to turn in their work.
The Ning. This is a social website that can be created to provide feedback to stakeholders. (Ning, n.d.)
Twitter/Facebook/Myspace -All of these social networks are being interwoven into the classroom.Using social networks is a good way to meet students on their terms(Smith, n.d.).
I-tunes U - Many teachers allow professors from M.I.T. or Harvard provide lectures to high school students.
Skype is being used to allow students to interact with classes and professionals around the world.

9. Current Technology implementation
All classrooms, libraries, and office spaces are connected to local area, wide area and Internet networks.
All classrooms and libraries have networked teacher and student stations.
All classrooms and offices have access to management software such as grade book, attendance reporting, and student records
All employees have access to email

  • All elementary campuses have two 30-station computer labs

11. In addition to numerous computer labs dedicated to specific courses, all secondary campuses have laptop labs for student use 12. All secondary campuses have a distance learning classroom that allows students and staff to participate in video conferencing activities 13. Instructional software and/or access to fee-based online resources must go through a district wide preview committee before district purchases are approved
