At the start loop riders ride anti-clockwise. After the first 200m there is a wide left turn leading in the first ascent of the start loop. After ascending for about 200m there is a sharp left turn taking you In the second uphill on a dirt / forest road. When you reach the top there is a plateau for 500m, which leads to, the next sharp left turn on a tarmac road going downhill to the start area. After you pass the start line you enter the start loop again and when you ride on the plateau for second time there is a right turn entering the tarmac road heading uphill. After 200m you are already in the normal lap starting to ride the course on clockwise direction. From here you head to the top of the course that is at 2km from the start line (normal course). Course for the Time Trial and XCO races (stages 1 & 3):The course which was rebuild almost from scratch and was first introduced in the 2011 race, consists of singletrack and forest roads. It has the form of a loop inside another loop using a bridge specially built for the race to connect the two loops. The start finish area is located at the “Mantra tou Kampiou” picnic area. Page 10: Cyprus Sunshine Cup 2013 - tech Guide

Cyprus Sunshine Cup 2013 Technical Guide

For the 1st stage, the time trial, the riders will do one complete lap of the course. For the 3rd stage, the XCO race, the riders will complete a start loop of 4km on forest roads before they enter in the normal lap.

Immediately after the start area the course enters in singletrack for a short climb before descending into newly build singletrack which climbs for approximately 2 minutes. The climb continues for a further 1 minute using dirt and fire roads to reach the 1 st technical downhill section. The first Feed / Technical Assistance zone is located immediately after the 1st technical downhill section.

Then the course slightly ascends through dirt and fire roads before entering also newly build singletrack which take the riders to the 2nd technical downhill section. Being at the lowest point of the course which is also the middle of the course, the riders take the longest dirt road of the course, with a length of 1,5 km, to climb back to the “Mantra tou Kampiou” area. Right before they pass under the bridge the riders go through the second Feed / Technical Assistance zone.

After exiting the picnic area the riders will climb through fire roads, dirt roads and newly build singletrack to the highest point of the course which is located approximately 600m before the finish, before descending through the 3rd technical downhill section and a steep fire road to reach a spectacular passing over the bridge and enter the finish straight which is about 80m long.

The riders will enter the dirt roads at the “Mantra tou Kampiou” pic-nic area. The most of the course is on forest roads and two sections of singletrack. The first 20km are on a wavy course until they enter the first sigletrack. The first singletrack is 7km long mainly uphill with several sections for passing. As the riders exit the singletrack they are entering a tarmac road for 1,5km which takes them to the entrance of the downhill singletrack of 6kms. American rider Adam Craig was heard commenting about this singletrack: “If I had a third thumb I give it three thumbs up!”

Exiting the section they have just 6 km remaining for the finish line on a forest road. The stage has a total ascent of 1471m.

“Bikers’ Village” in Limassol

As Cyprus is becoming a gathering place for many bikers at the beginning of the year, we are continuing in 2013 what we first launched in 2010, the “Bikers’ Village” concept in the area of Limassol. Limassol is an ideal destination for the participants to stay and combine their racing with a training camp. We have organized it in such a way that all of the riders will have the concentration they need for their training on the one hand, but also fun and joy on the other hand during their stay and train in Cyprus. For sure will be no problem to find a training group or company during your stay here. Most of the riders will be in located in the "village", so will be easy to organize training meetings or even coffee meetings while not on the bike!

Bikers Village will also include:

Organized “Bike service center” in the central hotel Free Internet wi-fi connection to most of the Hotels, Bike rooms in the hotels "Start of the Season Party"

Discounts in many restaurants cafeterias and pubs in the "Village"
