DRAMA CLUB OFFICERS

Going into this show, we knew it would be no easy task. However, we've had such an amazing time putting this complex piece together. Everybody has brought their individual talents together to create one fun, creative environment. We'd first like to thank our amazingly supportive booster group. Without them, we wouldn't have as many opportunities to uplift the club. We'd also like to thank Mrs. Lundy our fantastic teacher sponsor for all of her dedication to this program. Another important thank you goes out to instructors including Jon Davidson, Mr. Conrad, Mr. Molnar, and Ms. Ward. Thank you for providing help and wisdom to this production. We'd also like to acknowledge our superb director Mr. Ed Nahhat. Thank you so much for your direction and leadership in this club and with this show. Thank you to the cast, crew, and the lovely audience for believing in this production. Break a yard stick! Love, Your 2014-2015 Drama Club Officers, Kara Barbieri, Maureen Murphy, Deryk Nagengast, and Mike Miller

Panache Cyrano wears a feathered plume on his hat (called a panache), over a simple soldier's uniform, and carries a sword as sharp as his wit. A poet, a hero, a man of gusto and self-assurance, he loves purely - and dedicates his very life to honor. He abhors pretense, moral compromise, and especially despises people without honor. Cyrano leads the way in this funny and touching adventure while we, his cadets, follow - and learn from his example. Our ROHS Drama Club Students have each found a piece of Cyrano inside themselves. They have dedicated themselves to this project without pretense, putting their hearts and souls into a grander shared adventure. In this Drama Club, many do many things. One for all, as they say. I hope that what our students take away from this timeless play will be even more special than the maturing confidence, team building skills, and leadership training inherent to a successful group effort; because in Drama Club the creative spark of preparing for live performance makes the difference. Here, they discover their own panache.

Hello and welcome to Royal Oak High School! As the principal of this great school, I have the opportunity to be proud of so many people and activities. Our Drama program is certainly a point of pride at ROHS. Thank you to our students and staff for their hard work in creating such a quality production. It is inspiring to watch them work so hard to accomplish their goals. Besides the obvious enjoyment of participating in the drama program, there are so many life lessons learned by working as a team to accomplish a common goal. Lastly, a big thank you to our supportive parents and our booster group for keeping dinner warm after late night rehearsals, fundraising to pay expenses, and just simply making it possible for our students to have this experience. With Raven Pride, Mr. Van Camp

Only 3 ½ years ago there was not a Drama Club boosters organization. At that time, the ROHS Drama Club was a very talented group of students that persevered, despite a lack of resources, including a bank account with a negative balance due to having to rent basic audio equipment.

A small group of parents gathered to see what they could do to help, and formed the Royal Oak Drama Club Boosters (soon to be an official nonprofit!). Now the bank account is in the black, the students have access to talented adults with a wide variety of skills and there is a team in place to make sure the ROHS Drama Club has smooth sailing for years to come.

What was unexpected was that Drama Boosters has become the most fun parents committee in Royal Oak High School! Our Tuesday night meetings take place at off campus and feature dinner, drinks and lively conversation.

With the students and school partnerships, here’s a list of just SOME of what we have accomplished over the past 3 ½ years: • Had an all-night lock-in party in the auditorium. • Created a fund to purchase new wireless microphones. • Arranged for tickets to local theater productions with director/actor discussions after the shows. • Conducted fundraisers at Potbelly Sandwich Works, Papa John’s, National Coney Island and the

Royal Oak Farmers Market. • Funded workshops to help students learn techniques for improv, hair and makeup and stage management. • Purchased new costume racks and bins for props and costumes storage and care. • Collaborated with a local community theater company on a costume sale to raise funds for new costumes • Supported the creation of a student-run One Act Festival. • Created and installed ROHS Drama Club banners, standees and promotional signs used throughout the

community for each show. • Created an operational website to sell tickets, consolidate information, improve communication and archive

performances.

It has been a fun two years for all members of the Drama Boosters. Please join us next year. Contact us at [email protected] or visit www.rodrama.com.
