Existing examples/Influences...

These are some examples I came across during my research of what is out there in terms of ident design for other TV channels, which enabled me to gain knowledge and ideas of what I would like my outcome to consist of.

Kiss ident

I found the kiss ident design interesting as it represents the channel well, each ident explores a specific expression of the attitude and fresh confidence that the Kiss brand embodies and their viewers aspire to.

From bold physical Hip-Hop inspired gesticulations, the self-assured strutting of a modern-day diva to the care-free euphoria of being lost in music and the fearless gymnastic energy of today’s urban dancer – these were the expressions of confidence we felt would resonate with the target audience.

Experimentation...

These are examples of some concept designs I put together to give me an idea of the outcome I wanted to achieve, however due to the requirements of the brief I was restricted in terms of colour scheme and font, and therefore created these mockups using the Channel Four Seven colour and font scheme. Although the final outcome was going to be a moving image piece, I created these designs to incorporate and use within my further development.

Development

As part of some further development from my experimentation, I decided to go onto use Cinema 4D and After Effects to create a more detailed design, which I was then going to work on as my final outcome. I tried out various styles and techniques for each composition, however sticking to the idea of representing the social media buzz within each design, using particles to form the brand/logo design.

The Final Outcome...The idea for this project was to create a motion graphic ident for Channel Four Seven. Channel Four’s most popular and talked about shows from the last seven days, and its content decided through social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Therefore I decided that I wanted my design to consist of the social media buzz around the channel. Using After Effects I created the ident forming up of particles used to represent the social media buzz, Tweets and messages coming together to reveal the Four Seven brand design. However rather than sticking to the current design I decided to make a change from my experimentation and development by adding text to spell out seven rather than just the number.
