Our latest William Tubbs Honor Rotarian was awarded on Friday. Chris$ne Garrow was honored for all of her work in the Literacy and Edu-
ca$on area. She organized our District Grant work of funding and work-
ing at the Sco4 County Library Summer Reading program.
This encompassed all of the Branches in Sco4 County.

day for our annual golf ou$ng.
Even if you are not playing golf, come to enjoy the fellow-
ship, good food, and the beau$ful se9ng of Spring Brook
Country Club.
If You would like to play golf, there is s$ll room for 8 golf-
ers. Contact Dennis Peterson, Jeff Helms, or Tom Messer
to let them know. They will form the foursomes.
Meal will be served about 11:45, followed by a shotgun
golf start at 1:00.

COMMITTEES/REPORTS Rotary night at the ball park to support Polio Plus is scheduled for Sunday July 20th for our club and Davenport Rotary. Unfinished Business: Auction: 50/50 raffle to be held first week of each month July to October. Community Needs: Report Community needs giving for past year in newsletter. . District Grant project at 910 Marquette to redo landscaping and fire pit area at homeless shelter operated by 180 zone. Apply for maximum grant for District Grant. This is a commitment of $5000 from District and $5000 from our club, of which part can be sweat equity. MSP Patrick Olsen/Lorraine Lynch New Board Business: Budget: first discussion held and tabled to next month. Include $1500 budget for Social Committee to be used as they see fit for events throughout the year. Other Adjournment at 9:00 AM Unanimous.

LAST MEETING – September 5, 2014 – Brad Martell; CEO Sco- County Y
Seventy two a-ended on Friday. Long distance guests were Boris, Elena and Diana Cretu from Chis-
inau, Moldova, guests of Merle Anderson. Ardo Holmgrain from the Rock Island Rotary Club was also a
guest. Other registered visitors were: Diane Papke, Karen VanDe Casteel, Drew Thompson and Eden Burt,
daughter of Brad Burt.
Charlie Jones was the winner of the 50/50 drawing and took home $111. Chris#ne Garrow was pre-
sented with the Honor Rotarian award, that she was the co-recipient of with Patrick Olsen, at the end of Ste-
ve Suiter’ s presidency. Chris#ne gave $5 to the educa#on fund as she announced her “baby” news. Charlie
Jones gave $46 for his wedding anniversary and Jim Koehler gave $100 in honor of Marcia being back to nor-
mal (from her fall, earlier in the year).
September birthdays were celebrated and $6 was collected for cake. Cody Allen was the sergeant
and took in $38 in fines.
Brad Martell, speaker, told us that the Y was chartered in Davenport in 1858. It is the #1 child care
provider in the Quad Ci#es. 60% of the students a-ending the child care program receive financial assis-
tance. He outlined the $4 million dollar Capitol Campaign that the Y is currently working on. The money will
be used to renovate locker rooms at various loca#ons.
