The second largest agricultural commodity was peanuts, which contributed 9.1 percent of the county’s total agricultural and forestry production. The third largest was cotton, which contributed 6.0 percent of the county’s total agricultural and forestry production. Forestry ProductionTimberland accounted for 69.9 percent of the surface land area of Dale County. Total forestry production contributed 12.2 percent of the county’s total agricultural and forestry production.

Overall Contributions to Dale CountyDale County’s agricultural, forestry, and related industries generated 3,835 full- and part-time jobs, representing 13.4 percent of the county’s total workforce (28,708 jobs).

The total impact of agriculture, forestry, and related industries was $723.7 million, which was 12.8 percent of the county’s total output ($5.6 billion). The indirect business taxes impact was $13.7 million, 16.1 percent of the county’s total indirect business taxes.
