It is my great pleasure to introduce the Damen Shipyards Group. From a modest

start with just one single shipyard, which my father and uncle established in

1927, Damen has grown into a multinational shipbuilding group, with more

than 6,000 employees and a presence in 34 countries.

Damen has acquired a leading position in shipbuilding, based on its unique,

standardised design concept. This modular construction approach immediately

gave us the ability to offer our customers well-proven, innovative vessels at

competitive prices. Damen provides hulls and components from stock, leading

to very short delivery times. In keeping with our ambition to serve our customers,

we have also established a reputation for efficient post-delivery support.

Even though we are a major international group, we are still a family-owned

company with a deep respect for our maritime heritage. We always take a

long-term view. Therefore, we will continue to build up our knowledge base to

make sure that we remain ahead with technological developments.

Damen’s standardisation policy allows us to reduce deliverytimes substantially. We build a wide variety of standard

All Damen vessels benefit from thorough R&D from their initial design,

throughout the vessel’s entire lifetime. Our team is continuously improving

our vessels, making them faster, quieter, more cost-efficient and more

environmentally friendly.

Many years of research have also led to some truly pioneering designs

such as the Enlarged Ship Concept and the Sea Axe.

Damen’s extensive R&D department represents a powerful force, especiallywhen combined with the Dutch maritime technology cluster.

DUTCH MARITIME KNOWLEDGE

All Damen vessels benefit from knowledge gathered duringongoing research programmes within the Group.Damen works alongside world-renowned research instituteslike Delft University of Technology,Maritime Research InstituteNetherlands (MARIN) and the Netherlands Organisation ofApplied Scientific Research (TNO), as well as other reputeduniversities and leading maritime companies.

Since the eighties, Damen an d Delft University of Technologyhave cooperated in a research programme aimed at improvingthe seakeeping characteristics of high speed vessels. In the

nineties, this cooperation produced the “Enlarged ShipConcept” on which the highly successful Stan Patrol 4207 and4708 are based. In the beginning of the 21st century, the “AxeBow Concept” was developed, a hull shape with unparallelled

sea-keeping characteristics. Based on this concept, Damen hasdeveloped the “Sea Axe” Patrol Vessels and Fast Crew Suppliers.

THE AXE BOW CONCEPT

By using the Finite Element Method, the actualbehaviour of the ship can be simulated. Undesired

effects can be found and corrected.

The maritime industry recognises the increasing

need for environmental awareness. Damen is

proactive in developing sustainable and cost-

effective vessels and services.

Damen’s Research & Development department is

looking into sustainable solutions, both in terms of

manufacturing processes and in terms of product

improvements. The impact of various hull forms

on resistance, reducing hull resistance using air

lubrication and examining alternative fuels such as

LNG are typical examples.

Damen is playing a leading role in the E3 Tuginitiative. The emissions during various operating

modes have been measured for one Damen ASDTug 2810 operating in the Port of Rotterdam.In order to reduce the environmental impact of such

emissions, the ship’s hybrid propulsion is beingoptimised in relation to its operational profile.

for offshore wind energy is set to grow substantially

over the next few years.

Damen is able to assist the offshore wind indust ry and hasdeveloped a number of innovative, cost-reducing, safe

and efficient solutions. We have introduced a range of

dedicated wind farm support vessels, accessibility andtransfer systems, as well as a complete concept whereby

convert commercial ships, the DamenInterceptor is truly purpose-built.A unique hull form ensures betteroperational capability and even

Damen has a rich tradition of naval shipbuilding with our originalnavy roots stemming back 135 years.

Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) is known for its quality shipbuilding,

both in the naval and the commercial sector. DSNS has been the dedicatedshipbuilder of the Royal Netherlands Navy for five decades, having worked onthe design, engineering and construction of eight generations of combatants, as

well as auxiliaries, Landing Platform Docks and Hydrographic Survey Vessels.

In the creation of the Sea Axe Fast Yacht Support Vessel,

Damen’s pioneering Sea Axe concept has beensuccessfully adapted to the superyacht world. Thesevessels can be faired and painted to seamlessly blendin with the aesthetics of the superyacht. The high-speedvessels, which can reach speeds of up to 28 knots, have

exceptional performance and are ideal to free upvaluable space on the mother ship. They can carryhelicopters, tenders, consumables, large toys, house

Damen ferries can be seen in operation all over the

world. We offer standard designs for (fast) ferries,water taxis, water buses, RoPax and double endedferries, as well as many other types of vessels thathave been developed for specific circumstances.

Ferries are an essential link in a public transport system and Damen buildsperfectly tailored, fuel-efficient ferries to suit urban transport networks.

Most Damen fast ferries are built at the ultra-modern Damen Singaporeyard, one of the most experienced ferry builders in the world with aworld-class reputation for aluminium fast ferries, patrol vessels, crew

arrangements. These are available for any type of vessel,

equipment or related services, including the prefabricated

shipbuilding kits supplied by the Damen Technical Cooperation

department.

Damen’s Customer Finance facilities are not just for privately-owned,

small and medium-sized companies; we also assist government

bodies such as coastguards, police and port authorities. Damen

maintains relations with all Netherlands-based commercial banks,

as well as with numerous banks abroad. As a major client of the

Dutch Export Credit Agency, Atradius, Damen is highly experienced

in arranging export loans with export credit insurance facilities.

Damen is unique in offering attractive buy-back guarantees forstandard vessels from our product range to customers or the

financing bank.

We know Damen quality means that our vessels have a very high

re-sale value. Vessels bought 20 years ago have been known to

achieve the same price when they are sold two decades later.

Damen is happy to buy vessels back or help customers trade their

vessels in when they buy a new vessel. Our team also offers a

brokerage service, whether vessels are from Damen or from

another shipbuilder and we can help customers looking to charter

vessels.

Damen Technical Cooperation enables you to build your Damen vessel locally,anywhere in the world. We provide you with a prefabricated shipbuilding kit and

can, on request, combine this with expert assistance, training and backup.

By using standardised components it is possible to make a custom-built design,

fulfilling the specific local requirements. This cost-efficient concept can be applied

to the full range of Damen vessels for a wide variety of marine operations.

One in five Damen vessels are built on-site by Damen Technical Cooperation.

In addition, clients can take the design-only option and have the vessel buil t by

a shipyard of their choice.
