Introduction and motivation
An MSSM-like modelCvetič, Klevers, DM, Oehlmann, Piragua, Reuter’15
The fiber is cut by the cubic
pF11 = s1e21e22e3e
44u
3 + s2e1e22e23e
24u
2v + s3e22e23uv
2
+ s5e21e2e34u
2w + s6e1e2e3e4uvw + s9e1vw2
as {pF11 = 0}.It can be mapped to the WSF by means of Nigell’s algorithm, with
f =148
[−s26 + . . .] , g =1864
[s66 + . . .] , ∆ =116
s23s39[. . .]
Hence we have an SU(3) at {s9 = 0} and an SU(2) at {s3 = 0}, as well as tworational sections with fiber coords:
S0 : [x : y : z] = [1 : 1 : 0] , S1 : [x : y : z] =
[s26 − 4s2s9
12:s3s5s92
: 1].
These sections provide the hypercharge U(1) generator.4 of 14

the chiralities are obtained aer fixing the (vertical) G4-flux, which by recentmethods can be obtained in a base independent fashion.

Make the coord. change s = x − b2z2/3, with b2 =s264 − s2s9, such that the

The Sen limit of an MSSM
• At λ = t = 0
X3 : ξ2 =s264− s2s9 ;
with ξ = y/sz.
• In the limit λ→ 0, the equation
WE : y2 = b2s2z2 + 2b4tsz4 + b6t2z6
defines a P1 fibration degenerating whenever:
∆E =s23s

4(s1s5s6 − s2s25 − s21s9
)= 0 .
• Non Abelian symmetry is preserved in the Sen limit. Remaining pieceresponsible for the U(1).

The Sen limit of an MSSM
• U(3):
X3 ∩ {s9 = 0} : (ξ − s6/2)(ξ + s6/2) = 0 .
We denote W = {s9 = 0} ∩ {ξ − s6/2 = 0} and its imageW = {s9 = 0} ∩ {ξ + s6/2 = 0}.
• SU(2): U = {s3 = 0} ∪ X3, does not split. Sp(2) ≡ SU(2).
• U(1): X3 ∩ {s1s5s6 − s2s25 − s21s9 = 0} splits in such a way that
V = 4DO7 − (W + 2W )− U , V = σ∗V ,
consistent with D7 tadpole cancellation
(V + V ) + 2U + 3(W + W ) = 8DO7 .

Matching Fluxes Gauge fluxes are constrained by cancellation of D5tadpoles
0 = W−(3FW+ + FV+) + 3W+(FW− − FV−) + 2U (FU− − FV−)
• Pure even:
(FW+ , FV+) = (
2λ3DO7, 0) , (FW+ , F
V+) = (
16F ,−1
2F) ..
• Pure odd: FW− = FV− = FU− (can be reabsorbed in the B field).
• Mixed:

U−) = β(−1

The counterpart of the Λ flux reads

The absence of conifold points removes some maer representations, uponrealignment of the U(1) charges we find more exotic configurations. How doesthis extend to non-Abelian exotic maer?

Conclusions
• We have worked out the Sen limit of some MSSM models constructeddirectly in F-theory. Still the question of the limit depends on the base.
see Cody’s talk
• Generically, more flux directions in type IIB compared to F-theory.
• Some F-theory fluxes contain orientifold odd flux components.
• Generically, the demand for a smooth limit removes some maer from thespectrum, in which absence, charge redefinitions uncover more exoticcharged singlets.
