the business world and the tools to becomesuccessful in and out of corporate America,”he says.

While Dan found success in corporate salesand management, he soon realized it was notas rewarding as he had expected. Looking forsomething more fulfilling, he looked to theprofession he’s known his whole life. Nineyears later, he is still serving the city of SanFrancisco and continues to be a top producingagent finishing 2013 in the Top 100 Agents inSan Francisco, being the top producingindividual agent at Colwell Banker Market Stand making it to the Top 21 Agents at hiscurrent company, Vanguard Properties.

“I represent lots of sellers including allresidential and residential income propertiesand listings, first time homeowners and move-ups,” Dan says.

When it comes to his business, Dan takes pridein running a clean, well organized workenvironment. For him, it’s all about earningyour business for life, not just one transaction. “Idon’t want to sell you just this home, I want tosell you your last home,” he says. Dan hasdefinitely earned the respect of his clients. NiritR. confirms Dan’s expertise in the business.“He is knowledgeable, hard working, diligent,experienced, business savvy, and easy to getalong with. He never once pressured us and wealways felt like we were his only clients.”

Utilizing his years in retail management, whilecommunicating with each client in a way thatrelates to them specifically, Dan is able tocarve out and create business for himself. “Itailor communication to fit each client’s needs

The city of San Francisco is friendly and quickpaced. Vanguard real estate agent Dan Dodd isexactly the same way. Successful andoutgoing, he personifies the city. The son of afather who was a REALTOR®, Dan grew up inSanta Rosa around real estate. He didn’tinitially follow in his dad’s footsteps, though.Instead, Dan went into sales where he found atrue calling and climbed the corporate ladderending up running the 2nd largest market forSprint as Director of Retail Sales for LosAngeles. “It gave me a good understanding of

and personality,” he explains. “Follow up isimportant, too, even after the sale.”

In a business largely based on referrals, it’simportant for REALTORS® to network. Dan hasa great network both in and out of the industry.With the help of the internet and social media,he’s able to inform and educate clients, whilealso using it to build relationships. “Most of myclients either are or become friends,” Dan says.

Helping clients achieve their real estate dreams isimportant to Dan, but equally important to him ishis involvement with the San Francisco AIDSFoundation and AIDS/Lifecycle Organization,where he participates in a 7-day bike ride fromSan Francisco to Los Angeles every year to raisemoney for the organization. “It involves a lot ofhours and hard work,” says Dan, who alsovolunteers as a Training Ride Leader helping newriders get ready for the long trek and contributesfinancially to the organization as well. “For me,it’s rewarding and all about giving back.”

Other than his yearly week-long bike ride forcharity, Dan says he takes just one day off aweek to partake in his other two loves, theoutdoors and the arts. “My clients know andunderstand that. It gives me a little freedom anda break.” Though his breaks are few and farbetween, Dan loves every part of his job andwouldn’t have it any other way. “I enjoy all themoving parts and making it all work together.”

In nearly a decade, Dan’s business has becomealmost exclusively referral based. Naturally,this has helped increase his business rapidly, insize, volume and transactions. “I doubled mybusiness last year and would like to do thesame moving forward,” he says.

In order to continue to grow like the city hecalls home, Dan says he’s looking to add morestaff to help him facilitate transactions.“Currently I have administrative support andam training a couple agents to provide thesame level of service I provide.”

At the end of the day, Dan hopes that hisclients remember him as a calm, fun-lovingguy that always got the job done, no matter thepressures. “I do not get emotional during theprocess,” he says. “I save that for the end.”
