Concussionso Many states (49 as of July 15, 2013) now have laws specific to the
management of concussions and head injurieso Some states may affect only school based activities but many also address
any group using school facilities or grounds for athletic purposeso Little League has developed a concussion overview page for each state
that will be similar to the Child Abuse pageo The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) website is a great
tool for leagues to encourage their managers/coaches, parents and players to review concussion information
o http://www.cdc.gov/concussion/HeadsUp/youth.html
Reporting Child Abuseo New page on our site addressing proper procedures for reporting
suspected child abuseo http://www.littleleague.org/learn/programs/childprotection/Reporti
ngChildAbuse.htmo Information allows volunteers in any state to easily access
information on statutory language, hotline reporting information and reporting requirements for their state
o LLB's Child Protection Program has compiled a resource guide which references the child abuse reporting requirements of each of the 50 states and the Federal government

Regulations I (b) and I (c) 8 and 9
• Annual background screenings must be completed prior to the applicant assuming his/her duties for the current season. Refusal to annually submit a fully completed “Little League Volunteer Application” must result in the immediate dismissal of the individual from the local league.
Regulations I (b) and I (c) 8 and 9
• Require that all of the following personnel have annually submitted a fully completed official “Little League Volunteer Application” to the local league president, prior to the applicant assuming his/her duties for the current season: Managers, Coaches, Board of Directors members and any other persons, volunteers or hired workers, who provide regular service to the league and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with, players or teams.
Regulations I (b) and I (c) 8 and 9• The “Little League Volunteer Application” must be maintained by the
president of the local league’s board of directors for all personnel named above, for a minimum of the duration of the applicant’s service to the league for that year. We recommend that the League keep the application for 2 years after the volunteer leaves service. Failure to comply with this regulation may result in the suspension or revocation of tournament privileges and/or the local league’s charter by action of the Charter or Tournament Committee in Williamsport.
• Little League recommends the volunteer applications and background check information be kept in a secure location.
• After entering Social Security # into the First Advantage background check tool, the league can redact any/all personal information from the application.
• Each year Little League International provides 125 free background checks required in the regulation. Information on how to utilize this benefit, as well as how to conduct background checks, can be found on the Little League website at:
http://littleleague.fadv.com/
• As a result of the Mississippi sex offender registry records data no longer being included, the First Advantage National Criminal Record File no longer meets the Little League minimum requirements of the Little League Regulations. To meet the requirements, a separate Mississippi State Sex Offender registry search must be conducted. This can be done by accessing the state website http://state.sor.dps.ms.gov.

Criminal Record Sources
• Approximately 751,538 individuals are on the state sex offender registries.1
• Approximately 135 million people and 350 million records are contained in the First Advantage National Criminal File.
• A check conducted through local or state law enforcement does not meet the Little League minimum requirement as it checks only local and state records and is not a National Check.
• The local league determines if the Social Security Number is mandatory. It is mandatory to have the SSN to use First Advantage. Using a SSN will increase the accuracy of the information reported.
