1. PARTICIPANTS
1.1 Entriesmustbesubmittedbytheprincipalofadanceschool/club/association.
2. QUALIFICATION
2.2FordetailsofDWCBallroomStyleandLatinStyleCompetition,pleaserefer

3. AGE
3.1Therewillbefouragegroups:
Toddle:4-6.11
Mini:7-9.11
Children:10-13.11
Juniors:14-18.11
3.2Acompetitor’sageistakenon1JanuaryoftheyeartheDWCQualifying
takesplace.
3.3Incouples,smallformationsandlargeformationstheageoftheoldest
competitorwilldeterminetheclassagecategory.
3.4ThemaximumageofcompetitorsfortheBallroomStyleandLatinStyle
Competitionis18yearsand11months.
3.5DWCreservestherighttoaskforproofofage.
3.6InallSoloClasses,competitorsmustdanceontheirownintheclassfortheir

4. COUNTRYREPRESENTATIONATDWCFINALS
4.1EachcountrythatisinvitedtoparticipateintheDWCBallroomStyleandLatin
StyleCompetitioncanenterinthefollowingDWCclasses:
Solodancersanyonecanenterineachagebandcategory
Couplesanyonecanenterineachagebandcategory
Formationdancersasrequired.
4.2Asolocompetitorcanonlydanceintheagecategorythattheyarepermitted
toenter.
4.3ForCouplescompeting–Toddles,MinisandChildrencanonlydancewithone
partnerintheircorrectagebandcategorybutcandanceinacategory
olderthanthemselves.Forexample:Minis(7-9.11yearsold)coulddancein
Mini,ChildrenandJuniorclasses.Children(10-13.11yearsold)candancein
JuniorClassaswellasChildrenClass.Again,onlyoneentry.
4.4Dancerscanperforminuptothreeformationgroupsineachagegroup,as
longastheyarewithintheagebandcategory.Forexample:AMini(7-9.11
yearsold)couldenter9formations,i.ethreeinMiniCategory,threeinChildren
CategoryandthreeinJuniorCategory;whilstaJunior(14-18.11yearsold)
wouldbelimitedtoonlythreeformationsintheJuniorCategory.
4.5Intheeventofatieinaclass,thejudgeswilldecidewhichdance(s)will
qualifyfortheDWCGrandOverallFinalforBallroomStyleandLatinStyle.
4.6DWCwillnotacceptmorethanthemaximumnumberofdancespermittedin
eachclass.
5. ENTRY
5.1EntryinformationfortheDWCBallroomStyleandDWCLatinStyle
CompetitionisavailableontheDWCAsiawebsite(www.dwc-asiancup.com).
5.2 InformationsubmittedtoDWCAsiawillbeusedforallcompetition
documents,i.e.programming,certificates,etc.
5.3 ByenteringaDWCcompetition,alldancersconsenttoDWCandits
partnersvideoing,photographingandrecordingthematanytimeduring
theDWCBallroomStyleandLatinStyleCompetitionincludingduring
theirperformances,atDWCeventsandinandaroundthevenue.
Videos/photosmaybeusedbyDWCanditspartners,includingbutnot
limitedtoinadvertisingandpromotionalmaterials,theDWCwebsite,
socialmediaanddistributedtothepress.
6. ENTRYCLOSINGDATE
6.1TheDWCBallroomStyleandLatinStyleentryclosingdatewillbeDecember
31,2019(HongKongTime).
7. ENTRYFEES
7.1EntryfeesandeventfeesarepublishedontheDWSAsiawebsite.Fortheany
details,pleaserefertohttps://www.dwc-asiancup.com/en/latin.
7.2Audiencearewelcomedtotakephotosandvideosduringthecompetition.
NootherphotosorvideoswillbesuppliedbyDWCinthiscompetition.
8. RESTRICTIONSINPARTICIPATION
8.1Plagiarismofotherdancersisnotpermitted.Actionwillbetakenifa
complaintismade.
8.2Soloistscannotperforminthesamesoloclasstwice.
8.3Dancerscanperforminasmanyformationsastheywish,butcouplescan
onlydanceinthespecifiedagegrouponce.
8.4Smallformationsmustcontainaminimumof4dancersandamaximumof10
dancers.
8.5Largeformationsmustcontainaminimumof11dancers,nomaximum.
8.6Dancerswillreceivetheprogramsbeforethestartofthecompetition.
Dancersshouldbepreparedforthecompetitioninthebackstageatleasthalf
anhourbeforetheirscheduledheatsincasethecompetitionisrunningahead
ofschedule.

10. CLASSORDER
10.1Classorderwillrunwiththeyoungestcompetitordancingfirstandthe
oldestdancinglast.
10.2Smallgroupfortheheatsineachdivisionwillbedeterminedbythedancers’
programmenumbers.
10.3DWCreservestherighttochangetherunningorderofaclass.
10.4DWCreservestherighttomergetwoormoresmallclassestogetheror
dividealargerclassintomultiplesections.
11. TIMELIMITS
11.1FortheSoloclasses–Competitorswilldanceexclusivelyforapproximately
30secondsonstage.
11.2FortheCoupleclasses–Competitorswilldanceexclusivelyfor
approximately1minute.
11.3Afterallcoupleswithintheheathavedanced,allthosewithintheheatwill
thenbeinvitedtoreturntothedancefloorforafurther90secondsof
adjudication.
11.4FormationslargeorsmallanycombinationofBallroomandLatin
styleswillperformonegroupatatimefor4-6minutesmaximum.
12. COMPETITIONRUNDOWN
12.1LatinStyle&BallroomStyleCompetitionwillbedividedintoHeatsand
Finals.
12.2ParticipantswillbecompetingintheirassignedcategoryintheHeats.
ConstantswillbeselectedtotheFinalsbasedontheirscoresreceivedinthe
Heats.
12.3FortheHeats,eachgroupwillconsistofaround6-8participants.Ifthegroup
consistofmorethan8participants,participantswillbedividedintogroups
basedontheirprogrammenumbers.
12.4Contestantswilllineupinaccordancewiththeirnumbersandstepontothe
stagetoprepareforthecompetition.
12.5Participantsneedtofindthecompetitionpositiononthestageby
themselves,andperformuntilthemusicstops.
12.6AftertheHeatiscompleted,alldancerswillbeinvitedbacktothestageto
performfor90seconds.
12.7Thehighest-scoringdancersineachHeatwillbeselectedfortheFinals.
12.8IftherearemultipleparticipantsintheHeats,thejudgeswillselectthe
highest-scoringparticipantineachHeattoentertheFinals.
12.9Judgesreservestherighttoinvitethecontestantstoreturntothestageto
danceagain.
13. MUSIC
13.1Musicchoiceswillbethesameforallcompetitors.
13.2Musicwillhaveadefiniteendingsothatfinishingmovescanbeexecuted.
13.3FortheFormations,themusicshouldbebetween4-6minutesinlength.This
mustbeprovidedbythedanceteacherandsubmittedfollowingthe
instructions.

Ballroomcompetitions.However,thebasicstepsmustbeadheredtoand

15.5Thedecisionofthejudgingpanelisfinalandcannotbechanged,therewill
benodiscussions.
16. SCORES
16.1Firstplacewillbeawardedagoldmedalregardlessofthenumberofpoints
received.
16.2Iftwodancesreceivethesamenumberofmarks,thenatiedplaceis
awarded.
16.3DWCmedalswillbepresentedto1st,2nd,and3rdplaces.MeritAwardswill
alsobegiventofinalistsineachdivisions.
17. STAGE
17.1StagedimensionsareconfirmedbythevenuetoDWCandmaybesubjected
tochange.DWCcannotbeheldresponsibleforanychanges.
17.2DWCreservestherighttochangethevenueofthecompetitionortouse
multiplevenuesifnecessary.
18. DRESSINGROOMS/BACKSTAGE
18.1EachdanceschoolwillbegivenONEteacherpass.TWOteacherpasseswill
begivenifadanceschoolishavingmorethan10dancers.
18.2Competitorsandregistereddanceteachersofparticipatingschoolswillhave
accesstothedressingroomsareaduringtheDWCBallroomStyleandLatin
StyleCompetitions.
18.3Parentshavenoaccesstothedressingroomsorbackstageunlesstheyare
registeredasdressingroomassistantsbytheschoolprincipal.
18.4Allotherpersons,dancers,parents,supportersandthegeneralpublicwill
havetopurchaseaticketonentrytothetheatre.
18.5TheBallroomStyleandLatinStylesessionsareopenedtothegeneralpublic.
19. COSTUMES
19.1CostumesfortheDWCBallroomStyleandLatinStylecompetitionsmust
beageappropriate.
19.2Differentcostumesmaybewornforeachdance,butthisisnotcompulsory.
20. INSURANCE
20.1DWCisnotresponsibleforanyinjuriesthatmayoccurtoanyperson
includingaparticipant,teacheroraudiencememberwhilstinthetheatre,
dressingrooms,backstageoronthestage,oranywhereelse.
20.2Itisthedanceschool’sresponsibilitytotakeouttheirowninsurance(s)for
theirschooltoattendDWCFinals.
21. TRAVEL
21.1DWCisnotresponsibleforanytravelandaccommodationcostsinrelations
totheDWCQualifyingcompetitions.
21.2DWCcannotassistintheorganizationofanyvisaapplications,itisthe
responsibilityofthedanceschool/parenttoarrangetheseifneeded.
22. CONDITIONSOFPERFORMANCE
22.1LightingeffectswillbeatthediscretionofDWC.
22.2DancersshouldpickuptheirNumberPlatesanhourbeforethestartofthe
competition.Nodancerswillbeallowedforcompetitionwithoutthe
specifiedNumberPlatesbyDWC.
22.3IfdancerslosetheNumberPlatebeforethecompetition,eachmustpayan
administrativefeeofHKD$100forredemption.
22.4NopropscanbeusedduringsolocoupledancesatDWCBallroomStyleand
DWCLatinStyleCompetition.
22.5Propsmaybeusedfortheformations,butthesemustbecarriedonbystage
bythecompetitors(excludingToddlesandMiniswhomayhavehelpfrom
danceteacher).
22.6DWCwillnotberesponsibleforthesafekeepingofanypropsattheDWC
BallroomStyleandLatinStyleCompetition.
22.7DWCwillnotberesponsibleforanyinjuries/accidentstoacompetitor/
teacherwhilsttransferringaproponoroffthestageandinoroutofthe
backstagearea.Allpropsareusedattheriskofthedancerandtheteacher.
22.8Propsmustbeintegraltotheperformanceandthejudgingpanelreservethe
righttodeductpointsofthepropisdeemedunsuitablebythejudgingpanel.
22.9Noliquidsoranyothersubstancesareallowedonstageatanytime,this
includesbubbles,waterorothersubstancesthatmayaffectthestage.
22.10Noconfettioranyitemthatrequiredthestagetobecleaned/sweptmay
beusedduringaperformanceduringaperformanceatDWC.
22.11Ifthemusicstopsduringaperformanceduetoatechnicalissueinthe
theatre,thedancerwillbeallowedtodanceagain.Dancercannotdance
againiftheyforgottheirdance.
22.12Ifthedancerisfoundtohaveexposedtheshoesnailsordiscoloredshoes,
whichmaycausedamagestothestage,DWChastherighttostopthe
competitionimmediately.
23. EXCHANGEOFDANCERS/SUBSTITUTEDANCERS(DWCGRANDFINALS)
23.1DancersmaybeexchangedintheDWCGrandFinalsasfollows:
a)Partners-onedancercanbeexchangedfromthedancerswhoare
acceptedbytheDWCQualifier.
b)SmallandLargeformations-upto50%ofdancerscanbeexchangedfrom
thedancerswhowereacceptedbytheDWCQualifier.
24. GENRESPECIFICRULES
DWCBallroomStyleandDWCLatinStylewillnotbeasstrictasotherBallroom
competitions.
24.1Forexample:thereisnorestrictionontheamount/typeofliftsinDWC
BallroomStyleandLatinStyle.However,liftsmustbeperformedwith
dexteritybothonthewayupandonthewaydown.
24.2ThecharacteroftheBallroomStyleorLatinStyledancemustbeclearly
recognizableinthechoreography.
