Perfect Partner Plus

Fred White

Occupation:Pharmaceutical Sales, Sports Analyst, Former UT/NFL Player

What is your dance experience? I have no dance experience.

Why are you doing this event? I want to help raise money for a great cause, Children’s Hospital.

“GO VOLS!”

Fred’s partner is Professional Dancer Lisa Turner

Lisa began dancing as a teen, starting off in line dancing, and soon after began partner dancing. Lisa and her husband PJ host a weekly dance class called “Westie Wednesdays” at Dance Tonight Knoxville. They are excited to see this dance growing in popularity in their community. Lisa is a very proud mother of two daughters and is honored to be participating in Dancing with the Knoxville Stars. “Dancing is awesome. Children are even more awesome,” said Lisa. “When you can dance to help out children, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

Dawn Tesh

Occupation: Jewelry Television Show Host

What is your dance experience? I used to be a professional break dancer many years ago and was a backup dancer for MC Hammer and Prince.Oh wait, that isn’t true. That was in my dreams. I don’t have any dance experience except when I “bust a move” in my living room with my son.

Why are you doing this event? To raise money and awareness for these children and their families.

“I am SO scared and excited at the same time. I just hope I don’t have to wear heels.”

Dawn’s partner is Professional Dancer Jake Rivera Jake started ballroom dancing seven years ago. It was peer pressure from a friend that got him to take his first lesson. He has since fallen in love with dancing. Jake says it makes him happy to be able to fulfill his love of dancing while also helping kids.

Brandon Bates

Occupation: WBIR reporter, Fox 43 news anchor

What is your dance experience? I have zero dance experience.

Why are you doing this event? I’m new to the area and thought this would be a great way to meet people! Also, it’s a great way to have some fun and learn a new skill for a great cause.

Brandon’s partner is Professional Dancer April Jilbert

April first fell in love with dance as a young girl when her grandmother would take her along to clogging events. She discovered ballroom dancing at age 17. She has been dancing with Dance Tonight, formerly Academy Ballroom, since 2008. April loves passing on her dance knowledge to others.

Every dollar counts.

Arturo, age 8 Diagnosis: Neuroblastoma(Cancer)

Erick Baker

Occupation: Singer/Songwriter Tennessee Uncharted Host, PBS

What is your dance experience? My technical skills are limited toThe Running Man, the Tootsie Roll, and The Carlton.

Why are you doing this event? My daughter Annabelle, who is now 6, was a patient at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital a few years ago, and they took amazing care of her. It gives me great comfort to know that there is a place like Children’s Hospital, and I’m doing this event to help ensure that they can continue to provide high quality care for all of the families in our area.

Erick’s partner is Professional Dancer Kristina Patton Kristina is certified by the National Dance Council of America as a professional dancer and instructor. She has taught and competed for 16 years and has trained with some of the NDCA’s top coaches. She has choreographed and coached dancers in major productions such as Sevier Heights Baptist Church’s production of “The Living Christmas Tree.” Kristina takes great joy in finding just the right way to explain things for each individual student; her dedication to the discipline and attention to detail is evident in both her teaching and performing. This is his first year as a pro in Dancing with the Knoxville Stars.

Cindi DeBusk

Occupation: Philanthropist, Contractor & Interior Designer

What is your dance experience? I like to dance a lot, but with zero rhythm I’m basically just burning calories.

Why are you doing this event?Since 1937 Children’s Hospital has had an open door policy treating any child regardless of their parent’s ability to pay. Fortunately, as a mother and grandmother, my children and grandchild have been healthy. But, knowing the services are available right here in my backyard makes me grateful for this wonderful resource. I’m supporting one of our community’s greatest assets, Children’s Hospital.

“Vote for me - the kids need you!”

Cindi’s partner is Professional Dancer Jeremy Norris Jeremy first took interest in dancing when he was a break dancer in Atlanta. He has been a drummer in jazz, rock and marching bands and believes his feel for beats and rhythms is one of his strongest assets in dancing. Jeremy served five years in the U.S. Navy and became a veteran of operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Jeremy has 17 years of dance experience and competes professionally with his students in Rhythm, Latin, Smooth, Standard, and theatre arts in local, regional and national competitions.

DJB Chalk It Up

Fenway

Occupation: STAR 102.1 Music Director and Night Show talent

What is your dance experience? In my head, Justin Timberlake WISHES he could dance better than me. Physically, the most coordinated movement I do only happens when I spill or drop something, at the same time. By that, I mean my eyes move at the same time.

Why are you doing this event? Not only is it for a good cause, but it’s a way to challenge myself at something new. Sure, I talk about pop artists every night. That’s easy. I’ve never had the opportunity to experience the work they put in to perfect their craft. It’s a challenge I’m actually really looking forward to.

“STAR 102.1 took home the mirror ball trophy last year, and my intentions will be the same this year.”

Fenway’s partner is Professional Dancer Stephanie Braeuner Stephanie first fell in love with ballroom dancing by taking lessons. She started teaching and then competing. For the last 10 years she has competed in American Rhythm and American Smooth competitions. Stephanie’s favorite moments in teaching are meeting new students and witnessing that “aha” moment every student has.

Your career path is here.

Lydia McCoy

Occupation: Knoxville News Sentinel Reporter

What is your dance experience? Outside of ballet lessons when I was younger and lessons for my wedding; my dance experience is mostly just cutting a rug when a great song comes on.

Why are you doing this event? I love to dance. It doesn’t take much to get me moving. So when I was asked to participate in this year’s event, I thought what better chance to dance and learn something new. More importantly, it’s a chance to give back to an organization that has given so much to families in East Tennessee. I don’t have children of my own, but I know how important having a children’s hospital in your backyard is to a community. Knoxville is blessed to have East Tennessee Children’s Hospital here and I’m blessed to be asked to help them to serve even more families.

Lydia’s partner is Professional Dancer Al Henriquez Born in New Orleans, Al began dancing at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in 1988 as a teenager. He continued his dancing while playing collegiate football at North Dakota State in the early 1990’s. Over the years, Al has danced competitively in both the Rhythm and Smooth Styles of dance, achieving the finals in many national competitions. Foxtrot is Al’s favorite dance style because it’s sexy, elegant, fun and sophisticated.

Michael Spencer

Occupation: WATE Sports Director

What is your dance experience?Other than the occasional dance party in my living room, with no one else around, I have no dance experience.

Why are you doing this event?I’ve seen how much fun my co-workers have had doing the event the past few years, and didn’t want to be left out. Plus, it’s for a great cause.

“There’s a reason I cover sports and don’t play them, athletic moves were never my forte. So, please don’t judge me too hard.”

Michael’s partner is Professional Dancer Emily Norris

Emily‘s passion for music and dance began as a small child and has continued to fuel her professional career. Her ability to utilize the inner beats and melodies in music is one of her strongest assets in creating a feeling and a story in her dancing. Emily has a background in musical theatre and gained more than a decade of experience participating in various symphonies. She put in her time competing in top ranks of Pro/AM in multiple styles before turning professional. She currently competes professionally with students at national events throughout the year, winning multiple top awards.

Lauren Davis

Occupation: WVLT Local 8 News Anchor/Reporter

What is your dance experience? My experience is limited to cheerleading in high school and the Electric Slide on Saturday nights.

Why are you doing this event?I want to help the kids of course! For the past 8 years, I’ve reported on the children who are healed at Children’s Hospital and the incredible staff there. Now I can actually do something more to help the patients and doctors.

“I’m looking forward to dancing for you! I hope you have as much fun as I have!”

Lauren’s partner is Professional Dancer Chris Lindy

Chris started dancing at the age of 19 in Knoxville. He started as a full time teacher, and slowly worked his way into performing and competing. In a very short time, he quickly fell in love with dancing. Chris continues to further his education and training in dance, and loves every minute of it. This is his first year as a pro in Dancing with the Knoxville Stars.

Mike Murray

Occupation: Knoxville Ice Bears President, General Manager & Co-Owner

What is your dance experience? Other than any moves I can make on skates, I have zero experience dancing.

Why are you doing this event? As a professional hockey player the game has taught me many life lessons and has positioned me many times in which to pay it forward by participating in numerous charity and fundraising events. I want to encourage current players to give back too. The Ice Bears have partnered with Children’s Hospital numerous times over the years. Although I will be in unfamiliar territory without skates, I was happy to accept this invitation, for a great cause.

“Don’t laugh at me or a hockey fight may break out.”

Mike’s partner is Professional Dancer Rachel Henriquez

Rachel has been a professional ballroom dancer and instructor for 11 years. She’s had a life-long love of music and teaching. Rachel even met and married her dance partner, Al Henriquez. The couple has five children. “My family is the driving force behind every decision I make,” explained Rachel, “and they are the reason I am so passionate about my participation in this event.”

Bedside Monitors for SurgeryYour contribution to Dancing with the Knoxville Stars will help purchase new equipment for the Surgery department in Children’s Hospital’s new state-of-the-art expansion project, currently under construction.

Twelve wall-mounted patient monitors will be purchased, one for every child’s bedside, in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Each monitor costs more than $10,000. The new technology will ensure nursing staff can quickly assess a child’s vital signs at the bedside. Constant bedside monitoring improves patient safety and quality outcomes.
