Dear Guests and Colleagues,
The Danube River macro-regional strategy, which is initiated by the European Union, does not only
concern the Danube and it’s riverside areas, but also deals with the territory of the countries which
are in the Danube Basin, especially the divaricate subsidiary streams of the Tisza Valley.

Among the Danube Strategy’s 5 piority areas: the „DaNet” international conference, which is
about environmental risks treatment, not only aims to give information about the Danube
Strategy, but also to provide possibility to create official statements to the national goverments
and EU institutions.
We have things to discuss. The catchment area of River Tisza is the most flood-prone region in
Europe. At the same time, the preventative investments can not be carried out.
The most pieces of safety equipment is calibrated for 15-30 years only, instead of the necessary
100 years.
These investments should be financed via public expense, which are very slight in these regions.
That is the reason why these investments can not be carried out, or just parts of them are realized.
Half of the European Union’s 20 poorest regions are located in this flood zone, in the Tisza
Valley.
We need good grounding, we need to think over the possibilities and actions, so we would like to
invite You to the conference, where all abovementioned issues can be discussed.
