Our Mission

WelcomeOn behalf of the children, staff and Governors I would like to warmly welcome you to Danetree Primary School. We are delighted to announce that Danetree will become a school for 2 – 11 year olds, accepting our first Reception cohort in September 2016 in a brand new, purpose built setting.

Danetree was judged to be a ‘good school’ by Ofsted in June 2014. Our forward thinking approach and dedicated staff aim to provide the best education for our children, bringing learning to life through our innovative, thematic and enjoyable curriculum. When combined with our varied menu of clubs and activities, Danetree is an exciting prospect for your son or daughter.

As an academy within GLF Schools, we benefit from sharing outstanding resources, facilities and support with Glyn School, Cuddington Croft Primary and other schools within the academy trust.

We welcome you to view Danetree and see our children in action. Our Year 6ambassadors are keen to show you around their school and you willhave theopportunity to ask them about their experience of school life.

A New Beginning

We are delighted to welcome our �rst Reception children in September 2016. We will also be opening a Nursery provision for children aged 2 to 3 years as well as 3 to 4 years. The Early Years Foundation Stage is an important and statutory phase in education, which begins at birth and continues to the end of the Reception year.

Danetree Primary School boasts the bene�ts of our newly built Infant and Early Years provision with itsimpressive use of space and inspiring facilities and yet retains an intimate and friendly feel. Whilst enjoying the bene�t of being able to access theoutstanding facilities of the main school, there are dedicated outside play areas for the Infants and well equipped and stimulating outdoor learning spaces for the Early Years children.

The curriculum is important in its own right. It is the beginning of all future learning and it supportsand fosters children’s well-being and helps developpositive attitudes and dispositions towards learning. Children will learn through �rst hand experiences,

speaking and listening, well planned purposeful play, exploration and experimentation.

We recognise that every child is unique and special. Our practitioners delivering the Early Years curriculum will monitor progress and attainment, observe children participating in exciting learning activities and use modelling to promote the personal, social, moral and emotional development of our children.

We strongly believe that children, sta� and parents are entering on a journey together and recognise how crucial it is to work for us all to work in partnership. We frequently welcome parents into school, to help not only children but also to support them as their children make the transition into full time education. We encourageparents and carers to play an active part in their child’s education by supporting their child’s education at home and keeping in regular contact with our dedicated teamat school.

Extensive facilitiesOur impressive facilities include large external playing �elds, two tennis courts, a gymnasium with dedicated boys and girls’ changing rooms, a music room and a modern foreign languages room. Our hall, with stage and sound system, plays host to regular performances by the children; which parents are welcome to attend. The ‘Danetree Diner,’ our purpose built dining hall, which openedin 2010 o�ers nutritious meals, freshly cooked on site, and a bright welcoming environment for the children to enjoy their lunchtimes.

We are passionate about providing children with state of the art resources, from our well-equippedICT suite, furnished with 32 PC’s to banks ofApple iPads.

Each classroom enjoys the bene�t of an interactive whiteboard and other digital equipment such as visualisers, web-cams and digital microscopes to enhance learning.

The newest addition to our remarkable facilities is our brand new ‘Narnia-themed’ library packed with high quality children’s texts. This provides our children with the most inspiring environment to promote a love of reading. The library looks out across our new Danetree peace garden with vegetable beds for each year groupas a central calming feature of our lovely school building. Our parents have often commented that our separate Year 3 learningblock is hugely attractive to our prospective Year 2 families and how effective this is in supporting a seamless transition from our neighbouring infant schools. This excellent provision is beingredesigned and will be opened later in the Autumn 2015 toincorporate a separate Year 3 library area as well as several additional open plan learning spaces to support all children.

ExpectationsAs parents you will expect us to care for your children; we achieve this through determined academic focus, extra-curricular opportunities and nurturing our children’s social development. Our ‘Behaviour for Learning’ strategies and reward system reflect our excellent pastoral care whilst celebrating children’s achievements. We recognise that weare a large school and we have established a system that supports the children throughout their time at school on an individual basis.

We are committed to an ethos of high expectations and endeavour to treat our children as individuals, inspired with confidence to reach their full potential as twenty-first century citizens. In a stimulating environment, children are expected to be respectful, polite, honest and to contribute to our school community.

At Danetree Primary School, we believe that learning should be enjoyable and motivationaland must provide a variety of opportunities for all. We are proud of our ‘Creative Curriculum’ which isadapted from the Cornerstones Curriculum to capture our children’s interest and imagination. This curriculum has been nominated for nationalawards and is built on years of experience and a four stage teaching and learning philosophy: Engage, Develop, Innovate, Express. Our curriculum allows the children to develop and apply the skills that they need to make an e�ective transition to secondary school and to contribute positively to society.

groups for mathematics across the school. This ensures that children are taught at a pace that is appropriate to them and conducive to e�ectivelearning. Children at Danetree achieve highly and our results have signi�cantly increased over recent years. Ourmost recent results (2015) report the percentage of children achieving a level 4 (which is the national expected level at the end of Key Stage 2) surpasses national averages in all key areas. It also shows that the percentage of children achieving a level 5 (which is above the national expected level at the end of Key Stage 2) is broadly in line with national averages. As a result children leave us as con�dent, happy and ambitious young people, well equipped for the next phase of their education.

We place emphasis on the vital role that parents play in the education of their children and welcome parental involvement in all aspects of school life. We encourage parents, carers and other volunteers from the local community to become ‘Reading Rangers’ or ‘Parent Helpers’.

Over the years, we have forged strong links with a number of local groups and services that allow us to offer our children a unique blend of varied activities, ranging from church-led activities, to sporting, musicand craft clubs. In addition we provide the parentswith the flexibility of having an extended day with

our dining facilities hosting a breakfast club and after school care delivered by Club Vale.

We have an informed and supportive Governing Body that works closely with our passionate and committed staff. Our enthusiastic and active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) provide social and fund raising activities and we would welcome your contribution.

We value our relationships with our feeder infant and local secondary schools, to ensure that transition at both key stages is seamless and effective with parents being informed every step of the way.12
