Definitions
Prohibited (X): all goods marked by this word are, all the time and in any case, not accepted on board
CMA CGM Group (own/chartered) vessels and under CMA CGM Group BL (partners vessels).
Partners are not allowed to load these commodities on board CMA CGM Group vessels.
Restricted (R): all goods marked by this expression are, in general, not accepted. Nevertheless, the
Dangerous Cargo Office may make a study for very exceptional traffic if expressly requested and
agreed by Lines Management.
If an exception is given it will be with restriction and/or condition and only permitted under CMA CGM
Group BL. Partners are not allowed to load these commodities.
Accepted (A) :
A request is acceptable with the proviso that the cargo is shipped, packed, labelled and documented as
per the IMDG code, last Amendment in force and fire extinguishing media requested in MSDS for this
product are in accordance with emergency schedule mentioned in the IMDG Code. In addition to this,
the cargo is not waste.

The Australia group is a convention signed by a certain number of countries against the export of
chemical products used as Chemical arm ingredients.
Product names given in this convention are not all IMDG regulated and no IMDG classification is given
for those that might be Australia Group regulated.
The reason why a Line can refuse this kind of cargo is not due to dangerous risks, but due to media and
operational reasons.
For these two reasons, Dangerous Good Department cannot be the specialist in charge of checking the
acceptance of such cargo. Agents will be fully responsible whether or not to load the cargo in

A) Instructions for Scrap Metal ex former USSR – People Republic of China – Egypt
Scrap metal consignments from the above areas may be contaminated with radioactive material.
Local agents / Ship Operating Agents / Slot charters are advised to obtain clear written statements from
consignors in these areas that they have carried out a thorough survey and that the consignment does not contain
such material.
If they are unsure about the possible presence of radioactive contamination then a radiation survey should be
requested before loading.
B) Special instructions for Aluminium Scrap
Following instructions are made for the purpose of determining the kind of aluminium proposed as
‘Aluminium scrap’ and fixed a safe carriage.
In case of demand, quotations, booking stating ‘Aluminium scrap’ ANL agents must
require from shippers a further description of the aluminium content.
Agent to obtain and shippers to provide following information:
1 If aluminium scrap is a material such as:
o UBC scrap (Cans..)
o Talon (compressed wire)
o Taint /Tense (various material)
2 If aluminium scrap is a fine product resulting of machinery use or is aluminium turnings
If classified in category 1: no further instructions are necessary.
If classified in category 2:agent will have to advise shippers that such shipment is considered as hazardous
cargo Class 4.3:
* No bulk cargo accepted
* No cargo being loaded into same container
* Stuffing of the container to be done in dry weather conditions
* Openings are being closed weather tight* Packaging to be compulsory in accordance with IMDG code - UN 3170 Class 4.3
* No other material mixed with aluminium
All instructions above mentioned will have to be confirmed with a survey report.

Any shipments which do not comply with the above must be refused.

When ANL DG Policy requires for a cargo “Rejected Without Study” , the Dangerous Good
Department may make a study for very exceptional exemption if expressly requested, unless
the cargo is declared in limited quantity as per IMDG code specification and less than 1000 kg
is loaded in the container which includes empty/unclean packaging including tank container.
The Department manager will be in charge of summing up all competent advice and
information to take a decision.
** The transport of this substance shall be prohibited except with special authorization granted by the
competent authority of the country concerned.

Class 2.1 are refused in operated reefer even if cargo declared in limited quantity.
B) Class 2.3, and all UNNO with add label 2.3
Class 2.3, and all UNNO with add label 2.3, will not be accepted in CMA CGM Reefer container (even if reefer
is not operated)
C) UN 1950 Aerosol
All UN 1950 Aerosols with propellant gas other than class 2.2 are refused in operated reefer even if
cargo declared in limited quantity or inner capacity below 1L.
D) Class 3 and all UNNO with flash point
Class 3 and all UNNO with flash point are acceptable provided controlled temperature inside the reefer
10°C below the Flash point temperature.
Example: If flash point is 15°C, controlled temperature to be 5°C or under.
No cargo with flash point below -13 C° will be accepted in operated reefer.
If reefer stops, it will not to be restarted if temperature reaches flash point less 10°C.
E) Class 4.3
Class 4.3 is refused in operated reefer cargo even if declared in limited quality
D) Class 6.1, all UNNO with add label 6.1 and class 2.3
Class 6.1 and all UNNO with add label 6.1 will not be accepted in Reefer container (even if reefer is
not operated).
E) Class 8 and all UNNO with add label 8
Class 8 and all UNNO with add label 8 will be accepted in Reefer container only if accepted in line
instructions.

Emergency telephone number
The degree of filling in percentage
No leakage has been noticed
The container apparently fit to receive the goods
The last test certificate is in order and valid to cover the intended voyage
Shipper must declare that: "stuffing of container complies with IMDG requirement including tank
special provision (column 14 of section 3.2 and section 4.2.5 portable tanl instruction of IMDG Code.)
If the quality procedure is agreed by DGD, a certificate will then be issued by the Hazardous Cargo
Manager and a copy should be provided by the shipper instead of a survey report.
The certificate must be duly: dated, signed, stamped and accompanied by a valid certificate of fitness of
the tank container

Historical of procedure for Calcium Hypochlorite
After several alerts and information where Hydrated Calcium Hypochlorite was involved, the
management
of CMA CGM decided in February 2000 to stop loading this product. For political, commercial and
safety, reasons it seems however necessary to reopen the door restrictively on certain Lines with
strict studied conditions, which are detailed hereunder:
1 Compliance requirements:
and P & I recommendation and following:
1.1 General shipper agreement:
To be agreed manufacturer will have to provide following documents:
* Manufacturer's information (to be updated every two years)
* Safety and Security instruction given to all service providers in transport chain
* Study done on risk of flammability of package
* Certification that only Sodium process Calcium Hypochlorite is manufactured
* Letter of indemnity
The shipper should provide a letter of indemnity in favour of ANL
* Insurance policy (to be updated at validation time)
The shipper should provide his insurance policy covering his 3rd party liability for damages for not
less than 20 million of US $, citing CMA CGM as beneficiary of such insurance.
1.2 Each shipment agreement:
For each shipment, the shipper will provide:
A certificate from manufacturer with following information:
* Name of manufacturer and location of production.
* Name and phone of person we can contact to obtain more information.
* Date of cargo manufacturing.
* Confirmation that cargo comes from Sodium process.
* The way drums are stuffed to allow for adequate air circulation throughout the cargo.
A Survey report (independent surveyor agreed by ANL that certifies the following:
* No other cargo than the Hydrated Calcium Hypochlorite is loaded in the container.
3 Loading conditions:
3.1 Season period:
* Carriage Period from May 31st to October 1st, no Hydrated Calcium Hypochlorite should be on board
3.2 Equipment:
* Ventilated container should be preferred, every time this is possible to general purpose, containers
Cargo will not be accepted in reefer or insulated container.
3.3 Stowage:
* Cargo transport units should be loaded on deck only.
* Cargo transport units should be shaded from direct sunlight and stowed away from sources of heat.
* They should be stowed "Clear of living quarter".
3.4 Segregation:
* "Separated from" powdered metals and their compounds, ammonium compounds, cyanides, hydrogen
peroxides and liquid organic substances.
3.5 Container limitation number:
* Number of containers per vessel to be limited to 2.

issued by Chinese port authorities. Without this certificate, we do not accept any hazardous cargo
from PRC.
The above is applicable for all cargoes originating in China irrespective of the ports from which
they are being shipped.
For cargoes originating in Hong Kong, this Inspection Bureau Certificate would not be required.
All cargo ex China to be stowed ON DECK ONLY.
For tank container, we accept if request is accompanied by the certificate of fitness / tank inspection

All forms of CARBON from animal or vegetable origin, CARBON from mineral origin, ACTIVATED CARBON, CHARCOAL, COKE, BLACK CARBON etc… must imperatively be declared as hazardous commodities in accordance with the IMDG Code (UN 1361 or 1362 class 4.2) even if a certificate of compliance to the Special Provision 925 of the IMDG Code is provided.
The DCO will check the compliance of the commodity with the SP925 and vet the bookings as follows:
- the booking (CMA CGM or partners) does not comply: it should be accepted under UN 1361 (CARBON animal or vegetable origin) or UN 1362 (CARBON, ACTIVATED) class 4.2 depending on the shipper declaration,
- the booking (CMA CGM or partners) complies: the CMA CGM Group agencies move the hazardous booking to non hazardous but containers must be clearly identified on the loading list for the ship planner as containing CARBON.
SPECIAL PROVISION 925
The provisions of this Code do not apply to:
- non-activated carbon blacks of mineral origin;
- a consignment of carbon if it passes the tests for self-heating substances as reflected in the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria (see 33.3.1.3.3), and is accompanied by a certificate from a laboratory accredited by the competent authority, stating that th
- carbons made by a steam activation process.
To comply with the provision 925, the shipper has to provide us the following certificate dully signed by the laboratory which carried out tests.
