Who is Dr. Galdikas
● She is a lady who studied Orangutans in Tanjung Puting
● At that time people did not really know about them so she learned about them and educated kids

● She was born at the end of world war II in Germany in 1946
● Her parents were on the route to Canada and got there when she was two
● She grew up and went to school in Toronto
● In second grade she said she wants to be an explorer

● Then continued natural studies at UCLA
● She earned her bachelor's degree in zoology and physiology in 1966
● A masters degree in anthropology in 1969

● First she married Rod Brindamour and had two children
● Later she married Pak Bohap and had one child
● Pak Bohap was a rice farmer, a co-director of Galdikas's Orangutan program, and a tribal president (he was a native Indonesian)

are being destroyed and they are endangered
● So, she organized a Orangutan mating program to keep the population of Orangutans up
● She built an orphanage for the ones with no parents

● She has studied them longer than any other person in the world
● She has educated children about them
● They eat over 400 foods
