RESEARCH IN PROGRESS Reducing Barriers to Help Seeking for Mental Health Problems The goal of this project is to examine the role and impact of stigma and related barriers in preventing mental health care use among soldiers utilizing a multi-level systems approach. Findings will be used to inform policy

and practice and to improve messaging to promote early recognition and treatment of mental health problems. Dementia Care and Caregiver Engagement Training The goal of this project is to develop competency-based training of nurses and care managers in dementia care and to promote the skills and engagement of family caregivers of individuals with dementia, based on evaluation of needs. This workforce and lay caregiver development project is designed to maximize the ability of care recipients within a multi-state system to remain at home and to prevent or delay institutionalization.
