In 2013, we continued to increase our investment in product development by adding to our portfolio 25 new organic STC products, all designed, manufactured and certified by DART. We also expanded our presence worldwide to better serve our customers. AFTERMARKET

DART Aerospace continues to demonstrate excellence in rotorcraft aftermarket parts and accessory manufacturing and distribution. With a wide selection of top-quality helicopter accessories and components that improve rotary-wing fleet operations, DART is a well- recognized and reliable choice for providing the right equipment across all OEM platforms. DART also has extensive experience in collaborating with the FAA, EASA, Transport Canada and other authorities to obtain certification approvals.

OEM SUPPLY

Since 2013, DART Aerospace has decided to strengthen its partnership with the major heli-copter OEM and has initiated the co-development of missionized equipment for twin-engine and medium-size helicopters. While understanding the pros and cons of the two approaches DART now offers to the OEM the choice to certify co-developed systems either through the aircraft type certificate or through its traditional STC approach. Whether DART is working with operators, completion centers or helicopter OEM to develop new solutions, DART always aims to maintain the same reputation with its customers: a fast development turnaround time com-bined with its legendary responsiveness, and a constant flow of communication with key operators that ensures deep product knowledge.

SUPPORT NETWORK AND APPROVED SERVICE CENTERS

DART Aerospace offers global coverage through its network of DART service centers and approved third-party service centers. DART’s support network includes FAA and EASA PART 145 approved facilities and focuses primarily on the maintenance, repair and overhaul of emergency flotation equipment, landing gear and cargo expansion equipment. Strict guidelines that surpass the requirements of the various aviation authorities are followed thoroughly. DART is continuously looking at expanding its coverage by partnering up with local service centers.

DART’s fully-owned service center located in Broussard, Louisiana (USA) offers a complete range of repair and overhaul services for emergency float equipment, fuel cells, inflatable life-rafts and life vests. The maintenance services offered at this facility cover DART equipment, former Apical Industries equipment as well as equipment from other OEM. Our experienced personnel ensure that reliability, customer service and competitive lead times are the key focus.

DART’s fully-owned service center located in Oceanside, California (USA) along with our network of approved service centers offer maintenance, repair and overhaul services for DART emergency float and liferaft systems (also formerly known as Apical Industries), product inspection and testing. Competitive exchange programs to reduce downtime and to ensure our customers are always Mission Ready are also available.

DART’s service center located in Eugene, Oregon offers repair and overhaul services for cargo hooks, long lines and swivels. The Hawkesbury, Ontario service center focuses mainly on the repair and overhaul of sheet metal structures (Skidtubes, Crosstubes, etc.), welding (Baskets and Wearplates) and composites (Spacepods™, Heli-Utility-Pods™, etc.). DART is committed to providing the industry with dependable services, tailored to meet its customers’ requirements.

DART understands the undesired consequences of an AOG. With that in mind, our AOG service is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure you are back to your normal opera-tions as soon as possible.

Sales and DistributionDART Aerospace’s sales channels include a dedicated team of direct sales representatives and a network of local approved distributors. The DART sales team has been evolving significantly over the last year to better support our customer base. In addition to our team of inside sales representatives, we recently created two new positions: (1) regional sales managers and (2) account managers. These positions will allow DART to better support our most demanding customers based on their needs, growth potential and geographical location.

DART also partnered with two new local distributors in 2013: (1) Heliatica for Russia CIS and (2) Heliswiss Iberica in Barcelona. Heliatica will support DART in the acquisition of foreign Russian approvals for its STC products. Heliswiss Iberica will support DART to further expand in Europe. Heliswiss Iberica has hired a dedicated Regional Sales Manager to serve local customers. They will also be maintaining DART stocks in their warehouse in Barcelona and will offer on-site technical support to European customers.

the Cable Cutters Kit provides a means of protecting the helicopter during a wire strike by providing the capability to cut a cable or wire before catastrophic damage occurs. the kit is designed to reduce the possibility of a cable or wire entering the cockpit and to reduce the chance of flight control damage. similar cable/wire cutting devices have proven to be effective even during multiple wire strikes. the kit incorporates both an upper and lower cutter and each cutter is designed with high strength cutting blades. the Cable Cutters Kit design was tested to verify the capability to cut multiple cables with a combined tensile strength of 32,100 lbs. the Aw119 & Aw139 kit also contains machine deflectors for the wiper posts. the Aw139 kit has two configurations, one with a short lower deflector, and one with a longer lower deflector that covers more frontal area against a cable strike. An optional gPs Antenna Mount Kit is also available, which allows the antenna to be placed on the upper cutter deflector for ideal positioning of the antenna.

the emergency Float and emergency Float with integrated liferaft tech-nology for the Aw109 consist of: Four emergency floats (two emergency floats and 2 floats with liferafts) assemblies attached to the aircraft structural float provisions. this design also utilizes aircraft electrical provisions for the floats (float arming switch, float deployment switch, liferaft deployment switch, and associated wiring). the kit also contains, at the customers option, two 6-man liferafts which are packed in the Fwd floats and have their own elec-trical inflation system. the new Aw139 emergency Float system offers outstanding performance with a weight reduction of up to 85 lbs over the oeM float system with sponson mounted liferafts.

this innovative Float system comes with or without integrated liferafts and consists of four emergency float pods. the liferafts are located in the Aft float pods and are able to be inflated even if the floats are not deployed. the floats are designed to be stable up to sea state 6 and will be certified for ditching. the pods contain a composite cover that is more resistant to wear than the fabric cover versions. these covers are flush to the fuselage with no bulging for improved aesthetics and reduced drag. the float system comes with only one inflation reservoir in order to reduce weight.

liferafts are integrated into the Aft floats, allowing them to be positioned in an ideal location for inflation. each Aft float pod with the integrated liferaft can house one 10-man (15-man overload capacity) or one 12-man (17-man overload capacity) liferaft. the liferafts can be mechanically activated via anyone of the three inflation levers (two located in the cockpit and a third one that can either be a cabin-mounted t-handle or external handles).

the Aw139 liferaft Kit consists of two externally mounted liferaft pod assem-blies (lH and rH), a liferaft inflation reservoir with a mechanical activation system, as well as all of the plumbing, pull cables, and hardware required for installation. the liferaft pod assemblies are comprised of an aluminum mounting structure, a fabric top cover, a composite bottom cover, a 10-man (15-man overload) or 12-man (17-man overload) reversible liferaft and an integrated composite passenger step. one liferaft reservoir assembly with hoses that lead to each chamber of the two liferafts is included.

the liferafts are comprised of a twin tube design, a canopy, a survival kit and a fabric cover and meet all applicable ts0-C70a requirements.

the Aw139 liferaft Kit offers 88.2-lbs weight savings when compared to competing products (73.2 lbs for the High density 17-man overload configura-tion). this translates into increased payload for every single offshore mission.

the kit is located closer to the belly and generates a lower drag moment on the airframe, which can have a positive effect on handling characteristics.
