Overview
How can data visualizations be standardized and pipelined forviewing by key decision makers & analysts across an organization?Made to be compelling, informative, and appealing to the eye?Draw upon data sources as various as relational database servers(e.g. SQL), spreadsheets (e.g. Google Sheets), Salesforce, orweb-based data? Process ‘big data’ in a live manner for the mostup-to-date output? Through our accelerated introduction, studentswill become uid in using Tableau’s features to achieve all of theseobjectives.
This course oers an accelerated intensive learning experiencewith Tableau – the growing standard in business intelligence fordata visualization and dashboard creation. Without prior experience, students will learn to work with multiple data sources, createcompelling visualizations, and roll out their data science productsfor continuous, scalable outputs to key stakeholders. By buildinginsight and weaving narrative, students will be empowered toharness data in a striking way that provides value to organizationslarge and small.
By the end of the course, you will be able to: • Understand which visualizations best express a particular insight.
•
Construct advanced visualizations such as tree maps, sunburst diagrams, and geo-mapped data. •
Wisely oer insight through visual dashboards constructed using principlessuch as the golden ratio. •
Pipeline visualizations that model large-scale data in a continuous fashion.

This is a beginner-friendly program with no prerequisites, althoughsome students may have coded previously. First-time programmerswill have access to pre-course preparatory lessons and additionalresources to boost their condence with key concepts and set uptheir development environments.
The Final Project
In this project-based course, you will follow your own interests tocreate a portfolio worthy single-frame visualization or multi-framedata story that will be shared on Tableau Public. You will use all theskills taught in this class to complete this project step-by-step, withguidance from your instructors along the way.
Students share their results and each create a presentation that includes: A dashboard that will allow you to explore the data in depth and identify meaningful insights. A structure to your data story by writing the story arc in narrative form. A design checklist to craft the nal visualization of data story in Tableau.
