DescriptionlabCORE is a high-precision measure-ment hardware platform. It provides multiple channels, a wide variety of analog and digital inputs and outputs, improved processing performance and high-performance interfaces. labCORE is an all-in-one solution for measuring the voice and audio quality of a wide range of devices.
labCORE is used in conjunction with the communication quali ty analysis system ACQUA. Connected to a computer via USB (Plug & Play), it is configured and controlled by ACQUA. Combinations with other HEAD acoustics hardware platforms are possible.
labCORE settings are controlled via the intuitive ACQUA settings. They can be stored and assigned to selectable measurement sequences.
labCORE can be used for system opti-mization and development as well as quality control and benchmark testing. It addresses all industries where voice and audio quality of telecommunication and audio devices as well as transmission systems play a decisive role.
Regarding stationary use, the housing of labCORE requires a height of two rack units; width and depth fit to a standard 19-inch rack. Depending on the configu-ration with extensions, more rack units are required for labCORE to ensure sufficient ventilation above and below.

labCORE (Code 7700)ACQUAlab modular multi-channel hardware platform for voice and audio quality testing
Overview
labCORE is a modular multi-channel hardware platform of the ACQUAlab generation by HEAD acoustics. Its wide choice of high-performance analog and digital interfaces as well as its versa-tility and future-proof technology make labCORE the state-of-the-art all-in-one solution for testing voice and audio quality precisely and efficiently.
Measuring digital and analog telecom-munication and audio devices as well as transmission systems, analyzing headsets or headphones, binaural equalization, setups with two artificial head measure-ment systems, VoIP reference gateway: labCORE is versatile and provides ev-erything in one device – depending on the selected configuration and optional extensions.

Hardware extensionsThe I/O bus mainboard coreBUS allows flexible extension of labCORE with up to 10 additional hardware boards. The boards can be combined in numerous variants to customize labCORE for every possible use-case (respecting physical limitations).
• coreBUS (Code 7710), I/O busmainboard is required as interfacebetween the basic unit’s mainboardand the optional hardware boards.
• coreOUT-Amp2 (Code 7720),Power amplifier boardThere are two power amplifiersavailable via the optional boardcoreOUT-Amp2. Each amplifierprovides 20 Watt RMS (class D tech-nology). Output for both amplifiers isone Speakon 4-pin socket. Thus, testsetups with two artificial head mea-surement systems such as for In-CarCommunication testing or acoustic-to-acoustic (end-to-end) testing are fea-sible. coreOUT-Amp2 is also capableof operating e.g. small loudspeakers.labCORE provides slots for maximumtwo coreOUT-Amp2 boards.coreOUT-Amp2 requires coreBUS.
• coreIN-Mic4 (Code 7730),Microphone input board providesfour LEMO 7-pin microphone inputsfor externally polarized microphonesand supports TEDS. With this board, labCORE allows concurrent connec-tion of both ears of an artificial head

measurement system as well as mea-surement microphones. coreIN-Mic4 requires coreBUS.
• coreOUT-A2 (Code 7750), Analog output board provides analog BNC/XLR interfaces. The interfaces are switchable and transmit either a balanced or unbalanced audio signal. Both outputs are high-precision and low noise, thus perfectly suitable for demanding audio measurements. coreOUT-A2 requires coreBUS.
• coreIN-A2 (Code 7760), Analog input board provides analog BNC/XLR interfaces. The interfaces are switchable and transmit either a balanced or unbalanced audio signal. Both inputs are high-precision and low noise, thus perfectly suitable for demanding audio measurements. coreIN-A2 requires coreBUS.
• coreIP-AMR (Code 7772), AMR extension coreIP-AMR is a hardware extension. It provides the additional codecs AMR-NB, AMR-WB (G.722.2) and GSM Enhanced Full Rate. coreIP-AMR requires the software extension coreIP.
• coreBT (Code 7780), Bluetooth® hardware extension Including coreBT, labCORE is an uni-versal Bluetooth reference access point for acoustic and electrical measure-ments of voice and audio devices (mo-bile phones, headsets, headphones, hands-free devices, Bluetooth loud-speakers). coreBT contains a Bluetooth antenna for transmitting the data.
• coreA2B (Code 7790), board for A2B® bus adds the capability to connect to the Automotive Audio Bus A2B® developed by Analog Devices. With coreA2B, labCORE inserts and receives audio and configuration data to/from the digital bus, mimics a master or a slave node or even takes full control over the bus. coreA2B also serves as an evaluation board for A2B® bus systems.
Software extensionslabCORE is expandable by software extensions depending on applications and measurement purposes.
• coreBEQ (Code 7740), Binaural equalization coreBEQ enables labCORE to equalize binaural input signals from HEAD acoustics’ artificial head (compatible external artificial head models upon request). It includes:
– coreBEQ functionality available for one labCORE.
– One individual determination of equalization filters for an artificial head selected by the customer.
• coreBEQ-Add (Code 7741), Additional binaural equalization Individual determination of equaliza-tion filters for one additional artifi-cial head selected by the customer. coreBEQ-Add requires coreBEQ.
• coreIP (Code 7770), Voice over IP extension Including coreIP, labCORE becomes a reference gateway for voice quality measurements of IP-based com-munication devices such as VoIP or VoLTE telephones. coreIP contains an integrated VoIP SIP-client and RTP. It supports many common voice codecs. Some more sophisticated codecs are available as further extension.
• coreIP-IMP (Code 7771), VoIP impairment extension extends coreIP with the feature to delay or discard specific RTP packets. Therefore, it supports the simulation of network conditions like jitter, delay and packet loss. The conditions during measurements are reproducible, even with active Discontinued Transmis-sion (DTX) / Silence Compression. coreIP-IMP requires coreIP.
