Overview
Symantec™ Mail Security 8200 and 8300 Series
appliances feature integrated, best-of-breed antispam,
antivirus, and content-filtering technologies that stop
inbound and outbound email-borne threats. The new
Premium Content Control add-on subscription helps
mitigate risks associated with data leakage and
regulatory compliance (HIPAA, GLBA, PCI). Expanded
tools for managing content filtering policies, such as
per-domain and policy-based TLS message encryption,
incident management, keyword and regular expression
scanning inside attachments, and true file typing, help
administrators comply with internal and external
regulations. Day Zero virus prevention helps
organizations avoid downtime, while graphical message
tracking enables administrators to determine easily the
action taken on any email processed by the appliance.
On-box connection throttling uses local reputation
analysis to reduce spam and improve filtering
performance by rejecting malicious senders at the IP
level.
Powered by the Symantec Brightmail AntiSpam™ engine,
the Symantec Mail Security 8200 and 8300 Series
appliances leverage more than 20 spam prevention
techniques, and can deliver an antispam effectiveness
rate of greater than 97%¹ and a 99.9999% accuracy
rate² against false positives. Automatic spam rule
updates issued every 5–10 minutes require minimal
administration and ensure that customers have the most
effective, real-time protection from new threats.
Real-time scanning, using award-winning Symantec
AntiVirus™ technologies, protects against email-borne
threats.
From a single Web-based console, administrators can
easily manage multiple mail scanning appliances to gain
insight into trends, attack statistics, and compliance
incidents. Users can control their personal spam settings
via user preferences. Next-generation Symantec Mail
Security 8200 and 8300 Series hardware support
improves performance for organizations with up to
150,000 users.
