The SAP HANA Project Process

• Functional Business– Finance-Sales & Distribution…– Identify Business Problem

– Define Value Proposition– Create Financial Justification

• Many Times Completely Overlook IT and Facilities

The SAP HANA Project Process

• IT and Facilities– Server, Storage, Network and Facilities– Understand Corporate Standards– Integration with Existing Technology

– Management and Monitoring– Security

• Many Times are Searching for a Project/Use Case

• Usually Cannot Build Financial Justification

Symantec NetBackup certified

• Backint for SAP HANA is an API that enables 3rd party tool vendors to directly connect theirbackup agents to the SAP HANA database. It was introduced with SAP HANA 1.0 SPS05.Backups are transferred via pipe from the SAP HANA database to the 3rd party backupagent, which runs on the SAP HANA database server and then sends the backups to the 3rd

party backup server.

• Execution of backup and recovery from SAP HANA studio and via SAP HANA SQLcommands

• For more information on the integration of 3rd party backup tools with SAP HANA, pleaserefer to the Administration Guide .

Business Scenarios and Possible Scalability

• Side Car– Accelerator uses copy of data from SAP application (e.g. ERP,CRM) systems– HA and DR usually optional

• BW on HANA (“BWoH”)– Data resides within HANA DB

• Suite on HANA (“SoH”) - Data resides within HANA DB
