Term 3 Week 1 2016 Welcome back everyone to another exciting school term, it will be busy which many
scheduled events such as, parent and teacher meetings, swimming program, Athletics,
book fair and Dad’s Breakfast just to name a few!
Facilities News We are currently looking at Architects to assist us with the design elements and
building of the gymnasium as we enter into next Phase (2), which is the tendering our
facilities project. This is an exciting step forward for the whole school community
and I am fortunate to have some great expertise and supportive advice from the multi-
skilled school councillors and committee members we have a TRBPS. Thank you to
the staff and parents who were a part of Phase 1, where we developed an ‘Asset
Management Plan’ to guide the development of a future school master plan that will
incorporate the various facilities and play space ideas we devised as part of this
process.
Portables News The very old portable at the end of the year 1/2 area (right side) will be replaced by
the DET as part of a replacement rollout schedule in an effort to rid schools of these
very old buildings. We will receive a new Mod 5 portable in its place. It is anticipated
this will occur around week 3 or 4 of this term. This is very timely for us at TRBPS
as we discovered that rain had entered this portable during the recent bad weather and
this affected the carpet in one corner of the room. Consequently, we have relocated
Year 1W to the library until this is rectified. With more inclement weather predicted
it is unlikely for this to occur this week. The children and teacher (Mrs Leonie
Wallis) were assisted to move quickly into the library this morning so they could get
on with their school day as per normal. Borrowing of books by teachers and students
from other classes will be able to occur without any disruption to the class. The
scheduled ‘Book Fair’ may be required to relocate to the SOL centre so please watch
for the newsletter for further information regarding this event.
Year 6 Graduation News We have secured the Year 6 Graduation date which is Thursday December 15 at
Coatesville Primary School. We thank the principal Mrs Louise Pearce for assisting
us with a venue, as there is scheduled building works at both Brighton and Bentleigh
Secondary Colleges. We feel very privileged to be able to use their new state of the
art gymnasium for this occasion. More news on times etc., will follow.
Levelled Literacy Intervention Program (LLI) It is intended that we will run the program this term. The program will run for the full
amount of time beginning week 3 and will be delivered by Mrs Belinda Morris whilst
Marie Chalas is on leave. Mrs Morris is well known to the children and is very
experienced with implementing extra literacy support programs at TRBPS.
Mrs Morris will undertake an extensive handover of the LLI program from both Mrs
Chalas and Mrs Mehl (LLI trained) so that the children needs can be adequately met
during the course of the program. Mrs Mehl will continue to assist Mrs Morris
throughout term 3 to ensure that she is fully supported with running this program.
