DON’T FORGET…
W/C 2nd December will be the last week of internal clubs
Dear Parents/Carers,
What a fantastic start to the term we have had - class trips, visitors, enrichment activities, an Open Morning...as well as the variety of activities and opportunities that teachers and TAs are busy planning for every day. Hopefully you will have had chance to see the beautiful display in the Hall which was created by our school family on our Remembrance-themed Enrichment Day. I am incredibly proud of the creative outcomes produced by the children and the respectful way everyone participated in a Remembrance Service. We also had some lovely feedback from our Open Morning last week. We were visited by 22 families and everyone was very positive about the family atmosphere within the school and the way children were learning and they were incredibly impressed with the detailed and confident tour guides.
Don’t forget to keep on eye on the Calendar of Events and the reminders in this newsletter for the dates for your diary so that you can see what is coming up.
Best wishes,
Mrs C Luce

CHILDREN’S SERVICE AT LYDIARD MILLICENT CHURCH
On 24th November at 9.30 am there is a children’s service at Lydiard Millicent Church where the theme will be linked to what the children have been learning about in their RE lessons on the Trinity. A great opportunity for children to link their learning with the
church and home.
YEAR 5 OPEN SESSION
Year 5 are looking forward to parents and carers joining them for their open session. Families are welcome to come and join us in the classroom on Tuesday 3rd December
from 2 pm, please sign in at the School Office.
YR3 CLASS WORSHIP - COMPASSION
Our next class assembly will be by Class 3 on this term’s value of Compassion. We look forward to seeing families of Year 3 pupils at 2:30 pm on Thursday 5th December to
share this special assembly.
KS1 NATIVITY PLAY
EYFS and KS1 classes are proud to present “Lights, Camel, Action – the Sequin!” Class 2 will take on the main acting roles and will be supported by Class 1 and EYFS with the
singing and dancing! Performances are on 10th December at 2 pm for adults & preschool children and 6 pm for adults only – no children of primary age or under.
Please do NOT park at the Village Hall for the 6pm performance, due to a regular booking in the hall.
CHRISTMAS JUMPER
Tuesday 17th December is going to be very festive! It is Christmas Jumper Day and our school Christmas lunch. Children are invited to wear a Christmas top/jumper with their normal school trousers/skirts. This is not a fundraiser and does not require a donation.
Children can remain in school uniform for this day if they wish to. Children will make Christmas party hats in classes to wear for the lunch and they are welcome to bring in a Christmas cracker – we always start the lunches with a round of ‘We Wish You a Merry
Christmas’ and the pulling of the crackers!
CAROL SERVICE
It will be KS2’s turn to lead the festivities on Friday 20th December at 9:30 am in All Saints Church. KS2 families are welcome to join us for this. Please can we ask that,
just as with assemblies in school, you are considerate of the children performing and if you have a younger child with you who becomes unsettled, that you step outside the
Church. These moments are so special and pass so quickly.
CHILDREN IN NEED
We raised £195.22 for Children in Need.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Thank you to EYFS and their families for your amazing generosity. The children managed to pack 36 shoeboxes, which were blessed by Rev. Tudor Roberts showing
love to children across the world. Thank you to everyone who donated items.
RWBA ARTS FESTIVAL
Well done to the children from Class 1, 2, 5 and 6 who volunteered to take part in the RWBA Arts Festival. They all received a Merit award, with two children in Class 6 getting a Commended Award
and Lucy received a medal.
This was the first time Lydiard Millicent had taken part and we are very proud of all the children.
REMEMBRANCE
The children worked really hard on the Remembrance theme day creating a display for the Remembrance Service held on 11th November.
A huge thank you to Sophie for the beautiful photographs from the Lydiard Park Field of Remembrance official opening service. Sophie and her Class 5 friends decorated crosses to pay
tribute to all the brave Service men and women who have served in our armed forces.
ROAD CLOSURE
We have been advised by Wiltshire Council that the road to Lydiard Millicent will be closed from the junction with The Buffer to the Casa Paolo roundabout, between 9.00 am and 3.00 pm in early
December for roadworks.

THANK YOU TO TOOMERS GARDEN CENTRE
Thank you to Nigel from Toomers Garden Centre who came and planted some bulbs with Year 2 children earlier this month. Year 2 then used their skills to instruct and teach children in EYFS.
NUT FREE SCHOOL
Our school aims to be a nut free school as we have children with severe food allergies. We therefore ask you to ensure
that products containing nuts are not brought into school for any purpose.
Many thanks for your support with this.
GOVERNING BODY UPDATE
The governors have been busy working with the School Development Plan subject leaders to better understand how they are going to achieve the objectives of the plan. The role of each Link Governor in this respect is to check that their subject leader has a considered and structured approach to their particular aspect of the School Development Plan, and that they have adequate resources and support to achieve their objectives. Going forward, the governors will monitor outcomes and progress and will report back to the board at regular intervals.
In particular, Mr James has met with Miss Read to look at maths, Ms Lakin has met with Mrs Crayford to discuss the wider curriculum and Miss Herbert has met with Mrs Frost to discuss special education needs and disability and Mr Blakiston to discuss English.
Rev. Roberts also met with Mrs Gibbard to discuss our Christian distinctiveness.
We would like to wish a warm welcome to Mrs Williams, our new Clerk and to Mr Young, our new Parent Governor.
Don’t forget that governors can be contacted via the letter drop-box in the School Office.
CHARTWELLS—THEME DAYS
SAFEGUARDING AND CHILD PROTECTION
LYDIARD’S GOT TALENT!
Freya and Misha have been selling loom band bracelets in the half term holidays, with all proceeds going to the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. They raised £20 which has already been donated to the Foundation. They worked really hard all day: producing leaflets which they distributed throughout the neighbourhood, made signs to display in the garden and then sat in the cold all day to sell their items!! We think this shows great generosity of their time and amazing organisational
skills to come up with the idea and then implement it so well. The charity has emailed the girls to thank them for their hard work and donation.
If you would like your child to be mentioned for an out of school achievement, please email [email protected] with ‘Out of School Achievement’ as the subject. In the email, please include what you would like mentioned. Unless you state otherwise, we will use a child’s first name and their year group.
