Message from Valerie Althoff: As you have probably heard, the state of West Virginia (the state I grew up in) is in a State of Emergency due to severe flash flooding that happened last week. We have family and friends who have been significantly impacted. This is very similar to what happened here in South Carolina last fall. Jeff Althoff and I are headed up there this week to lend a hand. There are some differ-ent needs that we want to try to meet. First of all, they need volunteers to come and work. If you are willing and able, please consider giving some time over the next few weeks to go and help. They need help organizing the donations, cleaning things up, search missions for missing people, preparing and distributing meals - just to name some of the tasks I have been reading. You can register at http://www.volunteerwv.org/2/index.cfm.Second, the items they are in need of currently are: Box Cutters, Sponges, Scrub Brushes,Wheelbarrows,5 Gal Buckets, Gallons of Water (for flushing), Folding Tables, Long Handled Floor Squeegees, Rubbermaid Totes, Tarps, Shovels, Foil, Push Brooms, Box Fans. Household Cleaning Kits that include: Bucket, Hand Sanitizer, Lysol Disinfectant, Rubber Gloves, Scrub Brushes, Bleach, Mop, Push Broom, Breathing Mask, Contractor Trash Bags, Paper Towels, Per-sonal Kit to include: Soap, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Deodorant, Baby Wipes, Hand Sanitizer, Chap Stick. I also saw they are in need of undergarments and muck/mud/rain boots - in all sizes. If you can donate any of these supplies I have arranged with the following businesses to be drop off locations.
Keith's House of Plumbing (Tim Keith) located at: 1224 Ribaut Road. Hours of Operation are: 8am - 5pm M-F. Lowcountry Insurance Services located at: 80 Lady's Island Drive. Hours of operation are: 9am - 5pm M-F.
Third, you can actually go to an Amazon Wish List to purchase items to be shipped directly to the recovery command post. From the Greenbrier Valley Flood Recovery and Relief Facebook page: Ama-zon packages are starting to come in. While we can't see your faces when the boxes are delivered, we do feel the love. Thank you! We created an Amazon Wish List if anyone from out of town would like to send us items. Right now, the #1 thing we need are cleaning supplies.

Finally, soon I will have #WVStrong stickers for sale to raise money for the efforts. As soon as they are done I will get a post on here with the details. Thank you Thank you Thank you in advance for any and all help my Facebook family and friends are about to provide! Also, please help spread the word...Valerie Althoff
