OVERVIEW
Case 34031, Sample Delivery Groups (SDGs) MCOOA5 and MCOOD1, consisted of forty (40)soil samples analyzed for total metals and cyanide (GST) by Chemtech Consulting Group(CHEM). The sample set included three (3) field duplicate pairs. Samples were analyzed inaccordance with Contract Laboratory Program (CLP) Statement of Work (SOW) ELM05.3through Routine Analytical Services (RAS) program.
SUMMARY
All samples were successfully analyzed for all Target Analyte List (TAL) parameters. Areas ofconcern with respect to data usability are listed .below.
Data in this case have been impacted by outliers present in the laboratory blanks as well as thematrix spike, laboratory duplicate and serial dilution analyses. Details of these outliers arediscussed under "Minor Problems"; specific samples affected are outlined in "Table 1 A" andqualified analytical results for all samples are summarized on the Data Summary Forms (DSFs).

MINOR PROBLEMS
Continuing Calibration (CCB) and/or Preparation (PB) Blanks had reported results greater thanthe Method Detection Limits (MDLs) for the analytes listed below. Positive results reported inaffected samples which are less than or equal to five times (<5X) the blank concentrations maybe biased high and have been qualified "B" on the DSFs.
SDG Blank Affected AnalvtesMCOOA5 CCB antimony (Sb), selenium (Se), silver (Ag), sodium (Na)MCOOD1 CCB Sb, arsenic (As), chromium (Cr), cobalt (Co), Se, Ag, Na,
thallium (Tl), vanadium (V)PB CN- ,
CCBs and/or PBs had negative values greater than the absolute values of the MDLs regarding theanalytes listed below. Positive results reported in affected samples which are less than two times(<2X) the absolute value of the blank concentrations may be biased low. The "L" qualifier forthese outliers have been superseded by "J" or "B" on the DSFs. Quantitation limits in affectedsamples may be biased low and have been qualified "UL" on the DSFs.
SDG Affected AnalvtesMCOOA5 Sb, cadmium (Cd), AgMCOOD1 Sb, Cd, lead (Pb), Na, Tl ' ;
Matrix spike recoveries were high (>125%) for manganese (Mn) in both SDGs as well as for Asin SDG MCOOD1. Positive results reported for these analytes in these SDGs may be biased highand have been qualified "K" on the DSFs unless superseded by "B".
Matrix spike recoveries were low (<75% but >30%) for Sb and Tl in SDG MCOOD1. Lowrecoveries may be attributed to matrix interferences or analyte lost during the digestion process.Positive results reported for these analytes in affected samples in this SDG may be biased low.The "L" qualifier for these outliers has been superseded by "J" or "B" on the DSFs. Quantitationlimits for these analytes in affected samples in this SDG may be biased low and have beenqualified "UL" on the DSFs.
The Relative Percent Difference (RPD) for the laboratory duplicate analysis was outside controllimits (35% RPD, ±2XCRQL) for calcium (Ca) in SDG MCOOD1. Positive results reported forthis analyte in this SDG are estimated and have been qualified "J" on the DSFs.
Percent Differences (%Ds) for the ICP serial dilution analyses were outside control limits(>10%) for Cr, Co and V in both SDGs as well as for beryllium (Be), copper (Cu) and nickel (Ni)in SDG MCOOD1. Positive results reported for these analytes in these SDGs are estimated due topossible matrix interferences and have been qualified "J" on the DSFs unless superseded by "B".

NOTES
Reported results between MDLs and Contract Required Quantitation Limits (CRQLs) werequalified "J" on the DSFs unless superseded by "B".
The RPD for the laboratory duplicate analysis was outside contractual control limits (20% RPD,±CRQL) for Pb in SDG MCOOA5. However, the RPD for this analyte was within Region 3established control limits (35% RPD, ±2XCRQL) for soil analysis. No data were qualified forthis analyte in this SDG based on laboratory duplicate imprecision.
Reported results for field duplicate pair MCOOB2/MCOOC4 were within 35% RPD, ±2XCRQLfor all analytes except aluminum (Al), Cr, Cu, iron (Fe), Pb, Mn and zinc (Zn).
Reported results for field duplicate pair MCOOF9/MCOOG4 were within 35% RPD, ±2XCRQLfor all analytes.
Reported results for field duplicate pair MC0002/MCOOG2 were within 35% RPD, ±2XCRQLfor all analytes except Fe and mercury (Hg).
Post-digestion spike recoveries were low for Sb, As and Tl in SDG MCOOD1; however, data arenot qualified based on the post-digestion spike recoveries.
The following samples in SDG MCOOD1 were reanalyzed at the dilutions listed below for Hg inorder to bring concentrations within the linear range of the instrument. Results for this analyte inthese samples were reported from the diluted analyses, annotated with a "+" on the DSFs andnoted below.

Data for Case 34031, SDGs MCOOA5 and MCOOD1, were reviewed in accordance with NationalFunctional Guidelines for Evaluating Inorganic Analyses with Modification for use withinRegion IE.
