From the Principal’s Desk

Dear Parents and Carers,

Over this past term, we have been self-evaluating our progress,

successes and achievements from the 2015 year and where our

future directions lay, culminating in the completion of 2015 Annual School Report

which will be available at the end of this term. In our processes, we have carefully

mapped our successes against the School Excellence Framework and Policy which has

identified our achievements and the next steps to be pursued.

Confirmation from our assessment and evaluations are that we are on track in both the

delivery of processes and products outlined in our three Strategic Areas:

Excellence in Learning

Excellence in Teaching and Leading

Excellence in Strong Partnerships

A small portion of the Self-Assessment Review as it appears in the Annual Report reads:

In the domain of Learning, we have been focussed on strong evidence based literacy

and numeracy programs to deeply engage all students. This consistent approach has

also ensured that student performance and growth is plotted, tracked and monitored

carefully to ensure that benchmark levels are being met.

In the domain of Teaching, teachers have been focussed on ensuring that all student

needs are accommodated across the school inclusive of Individual Learning Plans (ILP’s)

and Personalised Plans (PLP’s). Students are engaged in their learning and connected to

aspects of school life such as in sports, interest groups and in creative areas.

In the domain of Leading, identification and mentoring of Aspiring leaders and experts

amongst staff and across the school has ensured that distributive leadership is

celebrated and is sustainable over time. The consistency and successes we have

achieved has been due to a strong foundation of leadership capacity across the school.

As a result, I can confidently state that through the exemplary delivery and ongoing

monitoring and tracking of the 2015 - 2017 School Plan, we are seeing both changed

practice aligned to 21st Century Learning and impact on student learning and

achievements.

Ringrose Public School, it’s a great place to be!

Yours sincerely,

Mr Loughhead

Principal

Fete Meeting Ringrose P&C would like to invite parents and caregivers who wish to be involved in organising this year’s fete to a meeting that will be held in the staffroom at 7pm tonight (30/03/16). Our fete will be held in Term 4 this year. Any help is appreciated as it provides much needed profits that go towards improving our school and providing additional resources for our children.

Roy Ringrose has visited

this week!

This week the students in 5/6T have been focussing

on improving their reading comprehension through

using a variety of strategies. They have been learning

about reciprocal reading and a small group of students ran a demonstration

on how this strategy works. Each person in the group had a role in the

discussion. There was a leader (leads the group), a questioner (asks questions

about the book they have been reading), a clarifier (explains difficult words of

phrases in the text), a predictor (predicts what they book will be about by

looking at the pictures, reading the blurb, looking at pictures and skimming

and scanning the text) and a summariser (summarises the main points of the

text). From the demonstration, students will be able to have a clearer

understanding of how discussions can help us to improve our comprehension

of a text. The students in 5/6T will be able use this strategy in their own

learning during reading groups and they will be learning from each other.

This week 5/6T have also been reading the book “My Place” by Nadia

Wheatley. To gain a deeper understanding of the author’s purpose they

wrote questions that they would ask the author if they had the chance to

meet her. Students re-enacted an interview with one student per group

pretending to be Nadia. This was lots of fun to watch and it was interesting to

hear the types of questions the students has like “what is the message you

want to send to your readers, through this book?”

5/6T have been working very hard this week and are enthusiastic readers.
